Hi Roark!

You have definitely come to the right place for information on LOTM-either the movie or the literature. Just about everything you could possibly need to know in terms of background is on either our Opening or Mohican Musings pages. There's material on the French and Indian Wars, Mohican history, the movie, Cooper and the novel, the characters - and plenty of rumination on all of it. Most of the folks on this website are fans of the movie, and others come from the literary angle, so you have resources for either approach.

I'm the Cooperphile on the Board, although I have been out of teaching for many years, so am not aware of any current teaching guides on LOTM. There are some college websites on it here and there, but none that seem to be fostering any learning to speak of, so you're probably best off developing your own approach in teaching the book. I'll be happy to assist you in any way I can.
