: : : I do not understand if Alice is given to Magua as wife
: : : or as slave.
: : Well, the Sachem says "so Munro's seed won't die", so I assume that means they are to have children together. However I think it would be possible for Magua to take her as wife and yet treat her as slave. Does anyone out there know more about what Huron would have done in such circumstances??
: : : That Magua would separate from the tribes...Hey! He was
: : : nothing if he wasn't BOLD!!!
: : You said it! Factions of tribes did occasionally break off, from what I have read, so though it was radical, it wasn't unheard of. But I was pretty shocked that he would exit cursing the sachem!
: I think that she would be a bit of both...not really a slave that would be treated harshly, but she would live and work with the tribe becoming a Huron herself in time. I was shocked too that he would disrespect and elder like that....speak his mind yes, but never curse someone so respected.

I don't actually think that Magua was a part of that particular subsection of the Hurons. He did not leave the tribe (Hurons), but instead said that he would go to the 'Huron of the Lake'
