Great movie, if somewhat specialized ... The depiction of the ill-fated Pickett's Charge sends chills up my spine ... talk about determination against all odds!! Walking the real battlefield (where parts of this movie were shot) and standing on the spot where Lee watched his doomed men, or where Armistead was shot down after gallantly leading his wilting brigade INTO the Union lines, or the bloody ground where a North Carolina regiment was blown to pieces by a cannon blast at point blank range ... unbelievable, yet it happened and the film shows it all, to Randy Edelman's great musical score!

Trouble is, it's one of the few films I've actually SEEN in the theatre. I just kept seeing visions of Hawkeye & Cora up there ... wishing I'd seen THAT film on the big screen! Soon enough ...
