Wilderness Empire

Lynn,

I really would like to hear what you think of Wilderness Empire, when you finish it. I read it once, and went back to it numerous times for background when I was doing the essay on Natty Bumppo. It's a good bit more graphic in spots than Cooper's depictions of the times in the Leatherstocking Tales, but that's what made it so fascinating to me. By the time I got through reading it, I couldn't figure out how there was anyone left alive to settle the country! Looking forward to your take on it.
