I apologize for the delayed post, but the lack of mention in the Musings piece on the real Hawkeye was not meant as a rejection of Daniel Boone as an inspiration for Cooper's character. He'd fit in to the conglomeration of frontiersmen theory. But if one is searching for a single individual, which was the primary focus of that musing, David Shipman is your man.
