Thanks for the well written piece on Natty Bumppo. Well done! I was reminded of the other similarity between he and Boone. Boone and the members of his family were some of the earliest settlers in Missouri, buying their land from the French. He spent the remainder of his life trapping there. Rebecca went trapping with him until in her fifties, keeping camp, and living in open faced 'Trappers' Cabins.' He apparently got on well with the Indians out there who had even heard of him.
