: That was interesting; thanks for posting the URL. It's facinating how people all over the world have these flood stories. There is a book out called "Red Earth, White Lies" that discusses a number of them. I can't remember the author's name. I'll find out and post it. Anyway, he argues that according to the American Indians' own creation stories they have always been in this hemisphere; he rejects the whole "land bridge from Asia" theory. He points to the end of the last ice age as the origin of the flood stories, which makes sense because there is evidence of massive flooding, especially in the northwest.

Mike,
You're right. It is fascinating how there is a universal flood story. Certainly does support a universal flood reality!
I must point out though that American Indian creation stories do not really state that they have always been in this hemisphere. Quite the opposite is true. Many tell a story of migration long, long ago; from the west via "islands". The author of the book you mention is putting his "spin" on it.
That ice age thing; very interesting! The arctic regions of North America were once tropical, right up until the time of a great flood! There are fascinating stories about this found among American Indian creation stories.
