I did like Room With a View. I own it and watch it every so often.

I've seen My Beautiful Laundrette, and while I think DDL did his usual splendid, chameleon-like job, I didn't care for the movie, overall. Not because of the gay themes, but because it just had a sort-of sleazy look to it...hand-held camera, grainy film and all that. I know that was part of the "look" they wanted, but I have to admit, I love beautifully photographed films with lush images, and glorious color. It just didn't work for me. It is definitely a must-see for DDL fans, though, if they want another look at his incredible range.

The film as a whole didn't particularly work for me either, but I agree, it is a "must-see" for his acting talents.

Have you seen Stars n Bars? I can't find that one, or Eversmile, and I really would like to look at both of them, just for the record. (I've actually heard two or three people say they loved Eversmile, though it sure sounds weird, to me!)

I have a tape of "Stars and Bars" from off the TV. It's not a favorite. It's a comedy and I don't think he pulls off comedy well. Do you want a copy? I rented "Eversmile, NJ" once. It was in the video store the last time I looked, not Blockbuster or Video City, some odd one. I thought it was positively awful!! Maybe I ought to go back and try it again??
