All the more remarkable when you realize it was done the same year as Room With a View. And if you ever need confirmation that the man is human and can make mistakes, watch Eversmile, NJ.
Hi, again! Did you like A Room With a View? I've seen My Beautiful Laundrette, and while I think DDL did his usual splendid, chameleon-like job, I didn't care for the movie, overall. Not because of the gay themes, but because it just had a sort-of sleazy look to it...hand-held camera, grainy film and all that. I know that was part of the "look" they wanted, but I have to admit, I love beautifully photographed films with lush images, and glorious color. It just didn't work for me. It is definitely a must-see for DDL fans, though, if they want another look at his incredible range. Have you seen Stars n Bars? I can't find that one, or Eversmile, and I really would like to look at both of them, just for the record. (I've actually heard two or three people say they loved Eversmile, though it sure sounds weird, to me!)
