: : I don't know if anybody else saw it, but it was on the entertainment
: : portion of our late news last night on the local station.
: : Apparently DDL has announced that the Boxer will be his last movie.
: : He intends to take some time off to get back into himself and to work on his relationship with his girlfriend (is there a marriage looming perhaps?). The clip stated that he is not necessarily retiring, but
: : that he has NO plans for appearing in any more films or in public for
: : some time to come.
: : Does anybody know if anything particular happened during filming that would sway him in this direction?
: : At any rate, apparently there is no hope of seeing DDL do the rest of the series.....or any other films in the near (or distant?) future.

: Good morning, Billy:
: I'm planning on being very very good and calm today, so I
: will respond to your post in a totally sane manner. Yes,
: DD-L did announce he was taking time off from films ...
: he says the same thing every time he finishes a film, so
: who knows? His wife is pregnant, and that may have
: something to do with it. He also injured his back very
: seriously while filming The Boxer and has had surgery
: on it -- so no more leaping around the woods for him for
: awhile. He is also almost certifiably looney at times (and
: I say this with the greatest affection) so you never know
: what he'll decide to do next.
: A brief aside to "Andrea" -- yes, dear -- I'm for real. Thanks
: for sharing. It's brilliant wit like yours that makes life worthwhile.

DDL retires from filming just about every year. He is always taking off to find himself or to work on his relationships. I wouldn't worry too much. I'll bet he'll be back as soon as a good script comes along.
