: : Ilse,
: : Yes.. yes.... Ivanhoe! It was a GREAT production! But..... I thought Steven Waddington was miscast as Ivanhoe. He's a very good actor and was perfect for the role of Duncan, but he seemed to lack something in Ivanhoe. He didn't have the 'presence' about him that Ivanhoe requires. Anyone else see this?
: : It was an A & E production, by the way. If anyone hasn't seen this, do try to. It's long but it's excellent.
: Elaine, thinking about Ivanhoe just got me wandering astray of the LOTM path. Did US televsion ever show one of my favourite English tv series, Robin Hood (starring Michael Praed)? The only excuse I have for mentioning this, is that most of the music was written or performed by Clannad.
: I think that the mediaeval times in Europe were extremely important in that it was a period in which ancient beliefs and traditional religions were destroyed in the path of Christianity. I once read someone who called this the "disenchantment of the world". What happened centuries later in the Americas seems, to me, a similar clash.

About Steven Waddington being an extremely good actor...Have any of you seen (King) Edward II? I Just saw it on Finnish TV and thought he was great. Think about his character on LOTM. At the beginning he's this arrogant British officer but at the end he is willing to sacrifice himself for Cora AND Hawkeye. Wowh! Not bad at all!
