: : : Y'all are TOTALLY not taking about the BEST part of the movie: WES STUDI
: : : If anyone knows where to get more info on this talented, however unhappy actor,
: : : PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE email me directly!!!
: : : Thanks!
: : LOVE Wes Studi! The most recent thing I've seen him on was an episode of series "Promised Land". Not too long after LOTM, he did an episode of Highlander entitled "Mountain Men".
: : I don't understand Hollywood. He should have had recognition for his portrayal of Magua.
: : There was an article on Studi in the Dec. 20, 1993 issue of PEOPLE magazine at the time Geronimo was released.
: In reply to the Wes Studi questions:
: I remember reading that several magazines, including Rolling Stone, thought that Wes Studi should have been recognized for his Magua part with some kind of Oscar nod.... what I have read since then, in a magazine called the "Indian Artist", Summer 1996, that the "First Americans in the Arts recently recognized outstanding achievers in the realm of Native cinema, television, and theater"
: recognized Wes Studi in Larry McMurty's "Streets of Laredo" giving him an award; ( Eric Schweig also got an award for his supporting role in "Tom and Huck"... would be interesting to see what award would be given for the 1992 year....)(the magazine also had a nice interview with Wes Studi in the Fall-1995 issue, as does the "American Indian Review", No. 14, a magazine out of England (!) no date, but I just got it last month; this also has a great article. I also believe Wes Studi was in the movie "The Doors" , is that the name?, with Val Kilmar, a very, very small part.
Wes Studi has a movie set to be released sometime. First it was to be May 97, then Oct 97 and now the latest I have heard is 1998. The movie is called "Deep Rising". I would love to see him get the credit due him for he is a wonderful actor and has incredible eyes!! Dee
