Where did you live in upstate NY? I spent a bunch of my childhood in Seager, near Margaretville in Ulster Co. I think that is one of the reasons the movie enchanted me so. It just captured me and drew me back into my childhood. It may have been filmed in NC, but it passed well for NYS.
