: : : As for the canoes; the real Fort William Henry sits on the shore of New York's Lake George. That is the lake they were supposed to be upon. The actual lake where the scene was filmed is Lake James, though the waterfalls were filmed at Linville Falls. They did shoot elsewhere, but it didn't make the final editing. Of course, for more on the filming locations you can purchase "On the Trail of the Last of the Mohicans". Yes, from us.............

: : Sorry Elaine, but some of your information is wrong. All the scenes in the canoe were filmed either on Lake James, Linville Falls or Dupont Corp. All of the locations made it to the final movie.

: Eric,
: Yes, Dupont. (Private property which Dupont requested remained unnamed.) But, Eric, what of Nolichucky River??? I don't think that made the final cut.
Sorry Elaine I forgot about that. My mistake. It was late and you know my mind. It went the way of my hair. Haha
I remember someone asking about the time it was filmed. We filmed all day. Starting in the morning and we were canoeing back to shore in the dark. The mist and smoke were from machines. Movie magic only... If you have ever smelled the smoke/mist it will make you gag.. I don't know what they use but it is smells like puppy poop mixed with rotten eggs. UUUUUUGGGGGCK.
