What makes these scenes so romantic and sensual is the way everything is unspoken - the way they go looking for each other because they were instinctively drawn to each other. When they meet, Nathaniel takes her by the hand and she follows as he leads her away from the chaos and tension of the siege. Then when he does kiss her, her response is immediate. They come from two very different worlds but on an emotional level, they already know each other. (I don't suppose Duncan ever came close to kissing Cora like that!)
