: Here is another thought....(in a desperate attempt to stop the tongues wagging by distraction)
: Chingachgook (or however) does not appear to say very much in the movie. In fact, neither does Uncas. Why is that do you think? Is
: there more dialogue between them in the book (it has been a long time
: since I have read the book).
: In fact....looking at the movie overall, none of the indians have much in the way of lines. Now, I think Wes Studi, Russel Means and our beloved Eric Schweig did an outstanding job of conveying presence and
: thoughts and such under the circumstances. But still......anybody
: have any thoughts on that subject?

Alright Bill, I'll help you with your feeble attempt at distraction. There definitely was more dialogue in the book. Perhaps in the movie Ching, Uncas, and Hawkeye were supposed to be so in sync with each other that words were not necessary. I thought Magua(Wes) had plenty of dialogue. English, Huron, French, take your pick. The man was downright verbose!
