Here is another question to ponder. What holidays do you think were
celebrated? Obviously the Virginians (referring to Williamsburg most
notably) celebrated Christmas and had bonfires, illuminations, fireworks, etc. New England....the stiff backed puritans et al...
refrained from such frivolity.
But did they celebrate New Year's???? And how did they celebrate it
if they did at all? And was it on the same day as we celebrate it
now?
Any of you folks out there know?
And how do you contemporary LOTM fanatics plan on spending YOUR New Year's Eve???? Me? Gonna make some hors-di-vors (hooked on fonix as
another fanatic would say), a tall mug of hot buttered rum, snuggle
down and wait it out. Just ain't the same since Lawrence Welk died!!
And just what IS that stupid apple they use now-a-days anyway? Why
wasn't the ball good enough?
Anybody ever brave enough (or stupid enough) to go into times square
and freeze your butt off, get groped, and stand for hours waiting for
that stupid thing to fall??? Elaine? You are from that area originally!! Bet you have!!!
