: This film brings me to tears every time I see it.  I think it's the most romantic film ever made.  It has all the elements that touch my soul: romance, tragedy, desparate fights against overwhelming odds, a sweeping score (I have a strong weakness for blasting French horns, and Celtic music makes my blood run hot), noble sacrifices, and majestic photography (my God, this country is beautiful!).  Throw in strict attention to historical details (uniforms, guns, etc.) and I'm in Heaven.
