You seem to be very rooted in the academic tradition of history education. Are you a history major? I appreciate your considerable knowledge.

I still feel, though, that words carry a lot of force, and some words have come to mean something other than what they may have meant technically to the folks who decide what to teach and how to teach it. In the common parlance, certain words have really turned to the equivalent of cultural poison arrows, and I feel a need to respect the feelings of the people who feel that way about those words. (That's too many "feels" in one sentence, but you know what I mean!)

Our careful use of words can create a new vision of history that honors all involved.

So... thanks for sharing, and I hope this won't deter you from continuing to do so!!!!
