I can't place the other thing you're referring to, however. Could he have been speaking in Indian tongue, as Chingachgook and Hawkeye were for a bit under the falls? Was it in response to Hawkeye's query for powder?? Or was Uncas already out of that conversation, gone to stand watch? (About time I watched the film again!)
