: I think it was meant to be a very thinly veiled reference to HIM.  (And he got it!) 

: Regarding something in your other post --  I think when his eyes slide down her torso after she turns away to sleep, that indicates an awakening of a physical interest in her.  (By the way, just the act of sleeping next to him I always thought was a pretty powerful representation of her feelings...and must have cut Duncan to the quick.)

: I agree that the combination of a newfound respect for her and her having "made the first move" makes Hawkeye begin to think of her in a new way.  But also I get the feeling he might be thinking, as he runs his eyes over her, "Gee, I forgot there was this man-woman stuff!  Life AIN'T all hunting and survival after all!"

: But then again, I can't imagine HIM winding his way through the wilderness for so many years and NOT having a few relationships along the way.  I should think there'd be women pursuing him in every village!  How he would have responded to that is an interesting thing to ponder...
