MohicanLand Musical Musings: The Music of The Last of the Mohicans
Edelman has written music for some of the big films in recent years, including Six Days, Seven Nights (1198),
For Richer or Poorer (1997), Leave it to Beaver (1997), Anaconda (1997), Dragonheart (1996),
The Indian in the Cupboard (1995), While You Were Sleeping (1195), The Mask (1994),
Pontiac Moon (with Eric Schweig, 1994), Beethoven (1992) and Beethoven II (1994),
Kindergarten Cop (1990), the miniseries Gettysburg (1003), and
the TV series McGyver (in 1995, plus the theme). Edelman himself, as he
noted in his Film Score Monthly interview,
has been amazed at the success of some of the scores, noting that the score
to Gettysburg was used to close the 1996 Olympics, and has been used elsewhere.
He also noted in the interview that the music to LOTM was his "landmark" album: "Last of the Mohicans
was a Platinum album", he said.
Before he become a leading soundtrack composer, Edelman took a turn in front of the camera, in the cast of
the 1978 movie Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with the Bee Gees
and Peter Frampton.
