Anyone interested in getting together this summer? All are invited! I want ideas: Valley Stream or some other location...Rent out a place or have it at someone's home...But I think we should do it. After all, if we don't do it now, we never will...if you get my drift. Give me your thoughts either on the post or via private messages. Thanks.

While I appreciate a feeling of "let's do it now," and it very well might be possible, keep in mind many are far off! Yeah, yeah ... I'm in NC - not too bad - but some are in Nevada, California, & the Ozone ... It's April, already, and summer vacation plans might already be in the books.
I vote for a "do it right" scenario ... Summer of 2004, maybe? But, I'm flexible ... |

Summer of 2004 would be great, but I would still like to see you nutcases this summer. I don't know yet if I can come - I am going to Europe in June, will be using up all of my vacation time, but maybe I'll visit New York on the way. I am enjoying so much reading your stories and seeing the photos! You guys are a blast! I use the photos as wallpaper on my computer at work. Everybody looks so gawgeous! Frank -- the photo of you behind Richie's little sister, ready to smash her with the guitar - I could print it out, blow it up and put it in the children's section of the library -- "Now children, if you don't behave, Krankie Bean will come after you!" |

OK ... not to put the pressure on, or anything, but we'll need a committee of some kind to put this thing together ... if it's really gonna happen ...
This could be very good!
So ... who? |

I nominate Louie aka Cottonmouth, I spoke to Lou on the Phone the other day Richie and he seems really in to making this reunion thing a reality, he asked me to ask you if you could send out a mass email to everyone registered on the list asking them if they would serioulsy be interested in doing and attending a reunion so he can get and idea of how many are interested, also if each of us keep trying to locate others from our Valley Stream history and turn them on to this site it would also help. I plan to come to the reunion for the Summer of 2004!!! June, July, or August is fine with me. It would be fun if we could have it at the Green, then go to someone's house afterwards. Or in Manhattan. |

Just to let you all know, I am working on a plan that will outline several options. Then I want a consensus from all interested on which is best for the most people. For example: 1. Locations: I think its only "right" to have it in NY. After all at some point we're going to have to pay homage to "The Corner Mailbox", right? We should all get our picture taken by it, no? Anyway, this leads me to #2. Lodgings / Get together location: I'm looking into Hotels with Banquet Halls and such. Maybe we can get a group rate. Also I'll need to poll everyone to see how many are coming and who needs alternative lodgings (staying with friends) and who is willing to put friends up and how much room they can provide. I don't want anyone to have an excuse not to come! Once I have attendance numbers we'll (The Committee for The Preservation of Corner Mailbox Madness)then have to set up a collection fund, etc. We'll need to rent a recption hall (as mentioned above) and we'll have it catered. Music: any thoughts? One idea I was thinking about is that we should get some instruments set-up for a potential jam session (Bean's bringing the chop meat & peanut butter, I'm bringing the clergy) 3. Most importantly of all...As the MAIN activity, I'll be delivering the 3 hour key note speech at the start of the events! (Just kidding. I'm actually going to sing a reggae version of Frank Sinatra's "My Way")4. Think of memorabilia crap to bring: photos, yearbooks, day-glo posters...whatever...I need ideas!!BUT BEFORE ANY OF THIS STARTS WE NEED TO SET UP A COMMITTEE (WHO WANTS IN?) AND THEN ASSIGN TASKS: Hotels & Lodgings; Locations ( Elena's idea about the Green is interesting ); Food; Finances; Decorations; Music, etc. I have a whole outline on "How To..." So Richie: Let's start by sending a mass email to all; asking who wants to be on the committee. Bean nominates me and I nominate him, for starters. Who else is in? |

Yes! I think the Green just has to be a part of this ... somehow!!
Lou - I don't envy you ... For the past 5 years I've organized an event here in NC, with people I don't know! It's a bear ...
I don't know what I can do from here ... communication, maybe?

I second the Green idea as being part of if not the main event..although I doubt they would ever issue a permit for us to play there again, if the story of the Holy Name show is still being told to kids in VS as Louie sons friend said it was then there's probably a life time ban on rock bands at the Green too, I'm pretty sure after the 2nd FTW show there they stopped having rock concerts there too for a while because we were too loud, not to mention the slight altercation with the police when they rode us up to the stage on their 3 wheeled police scooters and I said something to the hunchbacked park guy who worked there all the time and it pissed everyone off...any way Louie let me know what your ideas and plans are, I'm sure we can come up with something but like Richie said trying to get everyone to commit and agree on something maybe difficult so we should keep it as simple as possible so that it can be changed or altered as necessary. So lets everyone throw some ideas around... As long as I get to sing a few Stooges songs I'm happy... and make sure the peanut butter is skippy, it's much better for spreading, Bean PS don't forget the Jack Daniels and Tequilla ! |

I would love to help out with this reunion. What about a three to four day party - which could include one day of a picnic, music bash at the Green, another day of going out and about good old Valley Stream, and a couple of days in my favorite city - NYC!
I'll volunteer to be on the Green Committee! Even though I am living in California, I would be so happy to get involved with the organizing in some way - just let me know what's needed. I will continue to think of ideas of course, but talk of peanut butter for Bean is making me hungry for some. So off I go to get me a spoonful of the creamy kind. |

Elena, I like your idea of 2 or 3 day type of thing, I think 4 maybe stretching it a bit even 3 may too much to pull it all together but a two day type of thing I think could work with one day like you said being a picnic music bash at the Green and another day maybe going in to NYC and if it coincided with a good concert that wouldn't hurt but just hanging out in the city would be fun too. I'm not sure what the logistics would be though in order to get any kind of permit to play music at the Green so Louie's idea of maybe renting a VFW type hall near the Green may have to do, but the party could carry over to the Green afterwards where we all be could ZONKED like the good old days...
Elena did you say creamy peannut butter.... Slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch...! I don't know ever since my night of Iggy every time I hear creamy peanut butter it's like when Lou Costello or Curly would say Niagra Falls...
btw this should go in where are they now but since I am here already, Does anyone remember the girl Denise who was always at the Green? I think she lived right nearby, and Andrea who lived diagonally across from the green across from the library. That wasn't Andrea Rasso was it? And the pretty blonde girl from South who liked biting necks because she thought she was a vampire, and Karen's cousin Janet, and someone named Emiela, and Stephanie aka Sexie Sadie...any these names ring a bell? There's lots more where they came from.

I don't know between this reunion and the supposed Kinks reunion next year, I'm worried, Ray once said " when Pigs fly " as to when the kinks would reunite and now there is talk of something brewing in kinkdom so maybe we have a shot at pulling this all together too?

Rick here. Regarding any reunion plans in New York next summer, Peggy and I will be up in New York July 14 to July 20, 2004. Peggy graduated from Lynbrook High and they are holding a 35th reunion that Saturday evening, July 17. We plan to see some of the Ertz family and spend time with Doris, Doc and family. This will be are only time to go up to New York in 2004. We hope to be able to visit with lots of folks up there and any other out of towners, like ourselves, who can get up there that week. This would be our only window of opportunity for attending any sort of gathering next summer. I have uploaded a picture of the guys from the recent Asheville trip. Check it out in gokarter's main photo album. |

This looks good! I can make it too! Now all we have to do is pick a place or places. Any ideas? I say we pick a bunch of dates and places and whoever shows up, shows up. 'Be-there-or-be-square' sort of thing. Richie should send a mass email to all with the dates included and lets see what happens. People can crash with me if they like. |

Ok, Lou, I did the deed - mass mailing sent out to all the folks who are registered on this board. I will also send out a brief newsletter in a day, or so, as there are quite a few on that mailing list who have never taken the plunge & signed up here.
We still need to:
- Determine how many days this thing will formally last.
- The exact dates
- Where to hold it - I'm assuming several places, unless it's to be a one-nighter
- What to do - easy enough, I think!
- Size
I organize, through our main web site, a Mohican Gathering & that takes place less than a month earlier, in June. We need an organizer[s] here, to pull it all together ... you still game Lou? And how about assistance????
And the Corner Mailbox thing - not to be taken as an exclusive ... it might better be called a VSCH reunion, or Village Green reunion, who cares?!?
Let's have some fun! |

Has anyone considered a cruise? They are fairly inexpensive and sail from NY regularly during the summer. Four day cruises go to Nova Scotia and six day trips go to Bermuda. |
