I think we need some good re-accounts of our infamous Halloween wars at the mail-box, one I remember clearly is when I had the idea to tie fishing line anke height across Everette street and then when we saw the enemy crossing Sobro coming down Everett I had poured gasoline in the shape of a letter T and tried to light a wall of flames so they couldn't get at us and would trip over the clear fishing line while chasing us...needless to say it did not work too well and it turned out in to one of our usual fiasco's, chaos, bloodshed, just another typical night for us...didn't we have both Elmont and Rosedale attack us the same night? - That might be the night they came after us with Nair hair remover and I got cornered in a shed on South Georgia st, and found a sickle in there and came out swinging the damn thing to save my hair...I ended up buying that same house at 14 South Georgia St and lived there from 1985 to 1999, and the same shed was still there when I moved in !!!!
Frank aka Bean... me and my Big ideas ! but not as bad as the football games Richie would get us invloved with, us against guys who were as big as WWF stars ! I don't know which was worse...and then there was Peggy's parties when she hired her so called friends to protect us at the party and they ended up trying to kill me that big fat slob Joe, who after he bloodied my lip I ran back to my house and chased him into Richies yard with a baseball bat...ahhh the good old peaceful days...and to think we were peaceniks and hippies just imagine if we weren't?

" You're a misfit Afraid of yourself so you run away and hide You've been a misfit all your life But why don't you join the crowd and come inside You wander round this town Like you've lost your way You had your chance in your day Yet you threw it all away Now you're lost in the crowd Yet, still go your own way " --Ray Davies
" They'll move me up to Muswell Hill tomorrow, Photographs and souvenirs are all I've got, They're gonna try and make me change my way of living, But they'll never make me something that I'm not.
They're putting us in little boxes, No character just uniformity, They're trying to build a computerised community, But they'll never make a zombie out of me. " --Ray Davies
" The days go by and you wish you were a different guy, Different friends and a new set of clothes. You make alterations and affect a new pose, A new house, a new car, a new job, a new nose. But it's superficial and it's only skin deep, Because the voices in your head keep shouting in your sleep. Get back, get back. " --Ray Davies
" I've just had a dream that I never will forget. And I wish I could erase. I was standing on the street with a whole crowd of people And no one knew my name. And I was just another face No one looked at me or touched me Spoke to or acknowledged me. I had no identity or individuality No thoughts of my own, no mind or personality. I was just a no one, a total nonentity " -- Ray Davies

Well I remember our attempted "wall-of-fire"!!! What the heck were we thinking???? I believe that we also had some spiked baseball bats and were lurking in the bushes, ready to pounce. Whatever happened to that plan???
What a mess ...
That was the last Halloween festivity that I participated in ... the reigns were turned over to the "younger" generation after that ... Ronnie, Cliff, Eddie, Marc, Joey, et al. You know what? I can hardly remember a thing about it, other than utter chaos, vague memories of the hordes descending upon us - outnumbering us 5-1 - and this:
It was over. We met - the two opposing sides [or the survivors, anyway - and it really is fortunate for us all that no one was ever seriously hurt, or killed!] - out there in front of 2017 Amherst Avenue. I naively went to shake someone's extended hand - to signal peace.
POW!!!!
Right in the old schnozola! A big old fist in my face. I hastily retreated to the confines of a hot shower ... blood gushing from my nose; eggs dripping from my tangled hair ... but no worse for wear!
Those were the days! |

| Yeah rich took the hit and my house was egged from top to bottom! I remember washing it with a hose the next day. The egg fight did continue a little longer, but stopped after Marc and I got attacked down at the creek after fleeing from odds of more than 10-1! Forget 5-1 Rich! They were hordes alright!! Thankfully Eddie jumped on the guy's back and retrieved the nightstick that Marc had arried, but was now being used AGAINST us!! Way to go, MARC!! Gene King was also attaked with chains and sought refuge in Doc's house! That was the end of the egg fights.....Ronnie |

Ronnie, typing is like rock n roll it wasn't meant to be perfect, its all in the delivery, sort of like an old Kinks show, far from perfect but still great none the less. Were you at the the Infamous Kinks philharmonic hall show when Ray was so drunk he toppled over the amplfiers and everyone jumped on to the stage? I have some good stories from that night. I'll save them for another time. ...Frank |
