Ok Mr Thrill Seeker AKA Bean. Since the Bronx Bombers have stopped hitting...now is a good time to consider poisoning Boston's water supply...at least Pedro ( The Pud ) Martinez's!

Wow, Bean ... talk about an accurate prediction!! Well done!
Sorry, Doc ... wait till next year, right?!? Ha Ha Ha Ha ...
Here's my predicament - In a random WS pool, I ended up with the National League to win any [and all] games by a score of 3-1. Any game won by the NL by that score, I win a hundred bucks. But, of course, I am rooting for the Yanks ... so, my hope [and prediction] - Yanks in 7, with the Fish winning their 3 games by identical 3-1 scores! |

Frank, I'd never make fun of you "Mr. Thrill Seeker" just wanted it ended in game 6...but it was not meant to be...a new chapter has been added to the YANKEE BASEBALL HISTORY BOOK. Boston was tough... ( thought Pedro would never die )but WE DID IT...that was my World Series. I loved seeing all the Yankee starting pitchers, ending w/Mariano pulling together to get the job done...then at the end the pic of the Babe ( smiling & winking ). Eddie called screaming "it doesn't get any better than this"

Who ever heard of asking a pitcher if he is ready to come out of the game? A playoff game. Especially an arrogant arse like Martinez. He was done at the end of the seventh and they let him continue. I didn't see the manager of that other NY team ask Clemmons if he wanted to continue. They told him he was done. He was done. I believe that very likely there would have been a different outcome if Martinez was pulled earlier. Am I wrong? (As if any of this is really important at all)

I agree Doc, when it's for all the marbles a manager doesn't ask, he tells ! Bean a current day manager? btw Doc was I officially on the Bobmbers, or was that before I invaded the Everette St, Franklin Rd, Amherst Ave turf? I know I first met Foch around 1957 or 58, but you and Richie a little later whne I started playing baseball for the VFW with Richie's father as coach or manager. That was probably around 59 or 60, right Richie? Bean |

I don't remember the dates of the actual Bean invasion but do recall that you guys were on the opposing team. You brought along two brothers who lived on Elmont Rd. Dean? It was around the same time that the candy stores were selling "Civil War" cards which makes it about 1962/63. You Rich and the Fach played on the VFW Panthers. Correct? I can't seem to remember the names of those Elmont Rd. guys. I think the hard drive between my ears is full. |

INVASION OF THE KILLER BEAN!
Doc, That was Eddie Grant and his brother Michael who lived on Elmont Rd, 92 Elmont to be exact, just 2 houses to the right off Sobro Ave...
I actaully ran in to Eddie about 13 years ago.
Yes The Panthers was the name of the VFW team, although I think there was another team called the Bobcats too...maybe Richie can chime in here with his recollections.
I think the Dean you are thinking of was the guy that sang in Finger for a short time...Dean Chrisis ( I think that was his last name ) and he was terrible !

Yep! VFW Panthers! With Joey & Ralph Greco, too.
Dean Chrysos was his name; singing definitely wasn't his game. He was terrible; but, weren't we all!?!
Bombers Field - nothing like sliding on the asphalt to break up a double play! |
