Song writer and Member of 1950's group "Flip & Skip". Later a member of the "Byrds" from 1969 to the early 70's, died 7/6/03 as a result of Alzheimers complications. He was 69.

Do you mean Skip Batten I think his name was, he was the bass player for the Byrds. I remember seing them a few times, at the Filmore and at Hofstra with the MC5...
I still listen to the Untitled album with Chestnut Mare on it, and Byrdmaniax, and Further Along too...

Skip played with the New Riders of the Purple Sage after the Byrds, as well. I remember that Hofstra show!!! Weird mix of music, eh?

I remember 'Chestnut Mare' or I should say that I remember Doc reciting and singing it over and over and over again...He was addicted to that song for what seemed like an eternity!

I remember giving the nickname " Chestnut Mare " to a girl at the Green, does anyone remember her name or who it was? The name Michelle with Blonde hair sort of sticks out in my memory?

Frank, why don't you just do a google search, type "Chestnut Mare", and maybe her name will come up. There's a friggin' website for everything else, so....
