Lou, yeah great picture, at first I thought it was Andy Kaufman !!!
and now we really have to talk since you a car nut too...I almost bought and Opel GT too, I use to love that car, Iv'e had Triumph TR6's, a few Corvettes ( newer ones 90, 95, & 97 ) an old 1970 z28 camaro, a Nissan 300 ZX, ( always wanted an old Datsun Z though ) also a Mazda RX7. Now I have a 2001 Bullitt Mustang GT, the one they only made about 4500 of and only for that one year, but I use a Geo Tracker to Commute to and from work in. My Fiance' also has a 95 MIittsubishi 3000GT, and an old 68 Mustang GT Fastback all original, also 89 Porsche Carrera that really is her fathers but he never uses it, and a 2001 BMW M3., that was her Mothers until she passed away unexpectedly recently. I also have had a few motor cycles, back in the 70's Kawasaki's, Z900, and 1000's but now I have a 95 Harley Davidson Fatboy which I love, The Fatboy is my all time favorite Harley...
Next is a Ford F150 Lightning...maybe?

Bean: Andy Kaufman!!!??? Your ass looks like Andy Kaufman...
My son who is also a car nut (I guess there must be a gene for it) has a Mitsu 3000 GT '97. Before that he had a Merc Cougar 2000. Hated it, a real quality control nightmare! How do you like the Mustang? I'd like to get my hands on a Lotus 340R maybe the new Infiniti G35 Coupe. Mitsubishi is now releasing the Evo 8 and Subaru is coming out with the STi version of my car (300hp, 6 speed and a driver controlled center differential) its a good time to be a car nut! That 2001 M3 sounds nice. Ever drive it? I need a good commuter car too. I'm looking at a used Miata (love convertables)or a new Protege. Can't decide.

Sorry about the Any Kaufman reference Lou...btw do you know that he buried in the Big Jewish Cemetary on Elmont Road ( Beth David ) in Elmont, as you head up toward Hemp. Tpke, just a bit of trivia there...>
As for how I like the Bullitt Mustang GT...I like it a lot, it's pretty quick ( about 275 bhp) and it is a throwback to the 60's muscle cars even the way it shifts and sounds...I was almost thinking about get the Saburu you have to commute in because it's so quick. A Lotus 340 would be nice but big $$$, I even toyed once with the idea of a Vipor or Porshe Boxster...as for the convertable I'd go with the Miata because it reminds me more of the British roadsters like the Triumphs and MGB's that I really use to ( and still do ) love esepcially TR6's !!! - The BMW M3 is an amazing ride, fast and quick, handles great but is kinda boring to drive if you know what I mean...I am more of a thrill seeker...give me the Vette, the Vipor, The Mustang Bullitt or SVT's, F150 Lightning, ect...Bean

Bean: As I see it, a Miata is just a British roadster that doesn't leak oil or breakdown every 10 feet! Great trivia about Andy Kaufman! Why is he buried in Elmont, of all places? Then again, does it really matter where they bury you? Me, I want to be cremated and have my ashes spread over Boston. Loved it there. It's my second Home Town! The WRX is too quick! I never got a speeding ticket in my life, now I have two in two weeks!! Would love to rally the car but I don't want to destroy it. Maybe when it gets a little older I will. Right now I plan to do some autocross this Summer through The SCCA (Englishtown) and NASA (Giant's Stadium). Ever autocross your cars? Its a blast!

Lou, I guess the Miata is just that, how about the Honda S2000, I almost considered one of those too when they first came out but thought they were over priced.
As for why is Andy Kaufman buried in Beth David in Elmont, I guess it's because he grew up in Manhassett nearby and Beth David is one of the biggest Jewish Cemetaries around...as for me
" I don't wanna be buried in a Pet Cemetary " I'm with you but they can scatter my ashes a little south of you in Providence, RI where I spend a lot of time.
Be careful in that WRX, I have the same thing happen to me every time I get a new sports car...speeding tickets just pile up...Bean

This song is dedicated to the memory of
Annie Florence Davies. Written by Ray D. Davies
" Like a seed that is sewn
All the children are scattered
By a breeze that is blown
Now the crops are all scattered
We are torn, we are shattered
Now some of us are barmy and battered
And the fields where we gathered
Are overgrown in weeds and in tatters
Through it all we were scattered

To the fields we are scattered
From the day we are born
To grow wild and sleep rough
Till from the earth we are torn
And a soul that is free
Can live on eternally
And the spirit can live on
Though it's scattered in the world beyond
And I've been out of my mind
Ever since she's been gone

I look around that empty room
No sight nor sound
She's left so soon
She's out of view
But the I find
Those scattered clues she left behind
A photograph with a smiling face
A cigarette stubbed out on the fireplace
A coffee cup with her lipstick stains
I guess I'll never see her again

Now my life is all scattered
Ever since she's been gone
I feel older, I feel fatter
I feel the blues coming on
We get bruised
We get battered
But we'll pick up the pieces that scattered
And with emotional glue
We're gonna stick together, body and mind

Ever since she went away
I've been alone to contemplate
Time and space and why world's move
While sitting in my solitude
I've watched the stars and wondered why
They're scattered up there in the sky
And is she up there out of view
On some higher platitude

I wish I knew
Wish I could prove
The reason why this life on earth
Is scattered like the universe
I'm scattered here and scattered there
Bits of me scattered everywhere

To the fields we are scattered
Then from the dust we are born
We survive somewhat battered
To a new life, a new dawn
IN the end what will it matter
There'll only be my ashes to scatter
And all the logical answers
To a worrying mind
Will be scattered in time
Beaten and battered
To the earth you are scattered
You're going home so what does it matter
To an atomic mind
Scattered here while you travel time"

Bean: Honda S2000: tired of VTEC engines. I had one on the del Sol. You have to wind them out to red line before you shift even in normal driving or they're stones. Aslo, way over priced. That's what I love about the WRX: its Boxster and 350Z level performance for the price of a Camry! Did you ever fight your tickets? Getting two in less than 18 months suspends your license in NY so I have to fight them.

Lou what kind of gas mileage are you getting on the WRX? Maybe I would/should consider getting one to use as my daily commting car...I have heard only good things about it and how quick it is, and the price in the low to mid 20's isn't too bad ! As for my tiks, I fought them and had them reduced down and luckly enough they were spaced far enough apart, some were when I still had a NY liscense, and now I have a New Jersey one, and all my points are off...Bean

I heard that it always pays to fight a ticket. But if I have to get an attorney it could cost about $2000 apart from the fines! Did you fight it yourself? I heard the trick is to get continuances in the hope that the cop won't show. The WRX doesn't get such great mileage. About 20mpg. It's a turbo. That's why I want to get the commuter car I mentioned. I got my WRX for about $24000 when it first came out. I got a good deal because the dealer had no idea that the car would sell as fast as it did. Every other dealer I called wanted ABOVE sticker. This guy CUT the price by $1000!! Now I understand you can get a good financing deal on one. The 2004 is comming out with climate control as standard. Don't know what the price will be but the car is a real bargain! I got the better stereo (but it comes a standard 6 CD player in the dash)and the light sensitive rear view mirror with the compass (which I never use)the center arm rest and the wing. Later I put in a K&N air filter and an STi short-throw shifter and Toyo Proxes T1-S' (which are worth every penny!) I have also purchased, but still have to install: aluminum front control arms, stainless steel brake lines and racing pads; a Greddy cat-back exhaust(good for another 13hp)and an adjustable rear anti-sway bar with heavy duty mounts and aluminum end links. Then I want to buy the STi springs and adjustable shocks and then maybe rear lateral links and control arms. I don't mess with the computer or boost controllers. That's death to these engines. Then I'm off to Nevada to see what this car can really do!

Louie I had no idea you are such a MotorHead ! As much as I love Cars or anything with wheels on it, I am not too mechanically inclined so I usually leave well enough except for very small stuff...I am on the Bullitt Head digest for the Mustang GT Bullitt and their are guys on there like you doing all sort of mods to their cars, I have kept both my car and Harley virtually 100% stock, only the Harley I replaced the factory pipes with different Harley pipes...
As for my tickets I fought them by using the DA at the hearings and plea-barginning the fine or points down...I never had the luck of the cop not showing up !
I am definitely goong to check out the WRX soon...I also got a good deal on the Bullitt, it was a limited production car and only for 2001, less than 5000 were produced and just about all dealers were charging premiums over the sticker of $27,400, there were no option packages for the car so the stickers was the same on all Bullitts, anway I got it for $25,000 and that was with the tax included.
Bean

PS Elena..Now Louie will really be pissed off at me for you agreeing with me !
