Posted - August 11 2006 : 2:17:31 PM For any of you guys and gals still here on the Island, I wanted you to know about a great local restaurant - Broadway Beanery in Lynbrook. The place started out as a cool coffeehouse across the street from the Lynbrook Theatre, but then a fire destroyed it a few years ago. The owners had the foresight to resurrect it as a full-service restaurant, and they've done a stellar job. Both Newsday and the Times have given Broadway Beanery rave reviews. As a point of reference for "Corner" members, one of the Beanery's proprietors is Brian Som, who some of you may remember from his 70's days in Ramparts. You can see him in one of the pix in Ed's album. It's the Ramparts Concert @ Central. Brian is the guitarist on the right. Broadway Beanery is located at 23 Atlantic Avenue, between Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway, in beautiful downtown Lynbrook. Their phone number is 516-596-0028. Their website (broadwaybeanery.com) is under construction, but you can go there and see a 15 second commercial for the restaurant. Bon appetite!
