OK I'm off to Paris today ( Wednesday September 24th ) at the Ritz no less later today until Friday Oct 3rd...Maybe a quick day trip to Brussels too for some Dark Chocolate...I won't be on line or in touch with my email during this time...see ya later ! bye..

a Synopis on Love & Death as seen through the eyes of Sigmund Freud
Freud distinguished between two broad types of instincts in the id. The first type is
Eros ( the Greek Word for Love ) the constructive life instinct responsible for survival, self propogation, and creativity. In Eros are included the need for food, warmth, above all 'sex' broadly to cover a wide range of life-sustaining activities, from genital intercourse, to artistic creation. The energy of Eros is generated by what Freud calls the libido, a driving force permeating the entire personality, and propelling it through life. -
The second type of instinct, Thanatos ( from the Greek word for death ) or the death instinct, which is opposed to Eros. While studying agression Freud concluded that human organism is instinctively drawn back to the original state in which all tension would be dissipated, in short the state of death. This instinctive attraction to death gives rise in each individual to agressive tendecies directed at the self. Since Self Destruction is oppsosed by the life perserving energy of the libido, agression directed against the self is usually directed outward against the world, reason for human beings compete, conquer, and kill. Although sex and tension can be seen as two opposing forces, they are also closely related. Both have the origin in the id; both seek the release of tension. The tendency of the id to devote itself exclusively to the immediate reduction of tension is refererred to as the Pleasure Principle.

Carl Jung's Analytic Psychology
Personality development is characterized by forward movement
as well as past experiences
Humans continually try to realize their full potential and to achieve unity
among all apsects pf their personality.
A person begins this effort by developing all parts of his or her personality,
a process Jung called " Individuation ".
After achieving individuation, a person attempts to unite the contradictory
aspects of personality into a fully realized self.
Although no one can attain perfect unity, this goal is the great driving
force of all humans accordinng to Jung.
