The opening & closing vistas of the film "The Last of the Mohicans" were shot here ...

OK ... so where does one start? It's been a long, long time ... I guess with the important stuff ... my family!

Let's get this out front right now ... I've got 10 kids.

OK? With me still? 10 beautiful & intelligent kids, too Ages - 22 all the way down to just over 4 months old. 5 boys - 5 girls. All have the same mother & father.

How did I get there? Well, I went and met this beautiful & intelligent woman back in 1979. She MADE it happen, I tell you. I was kicking & screaming all the way, but she made it happen!! Oh well, sometimes it's for the best.

At the time, I was running a record store in New Hyde Park & playing in a damn good band [at this stage, anyway] called Cottonwood Sage. The band broke up and the record store went belly up, so we figured we'd do what's natural ... that is what causes this "condition," yes? ... and we started a little family ... ok, not so little ...

I got a job working for the State of New York at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center [those who know me well question the "job working" part!]; two years later I transferred to Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center up in Dutchess County. After 7 years working with the criminally insane, I figured I was qualified to work for the United States Postal Service and that's what I've done ever since. If interested, you can read about my Dutchess County life at From the Mohicans' Land to Mohicanland. You'll also learn, there, of my move to North Carolina in 1991 and subsequent unnatural preoccupation with the 1992 film, The Last of the Mohicans. If you stick around here long enough, you'll be force-fed a lot more of that!

Anyway, currently I still work for the Postal Service - though I often wish I didn't - as a Lead Sales & Service Associate [English translation: window clerk group leader] in Marion, NC, and facilitative instructor [English translation: teach window classes] for all window clerks in the western North Carolina area.

Before all of this, I rambled around the country a few times, worked here & there, suffered through a bad marriage [well, maybe it was her who did the suffering ... I forget ... I'm old], played in the band for seven years [with me brother, Ronnie, among others], and generally goofed off.

Throughout my life, though I never was too good at keeping in touch, I always kept the folks who helped to shape my life dear, and close, to my heart. After all, it is largely because of them [some of you] that make me what I am today. There's no escaping you, consequently. So, I put up a board!

I don't listen to much music nowadays ... now that Jerry & John & George are dead [mostly I listen to what I consider good soundtracks] ... but I love sports ... NY Rangers, LA Dodgers, Dallas Cowboys [sorry!] in particular ... and enjoy studying America's frontier history.

Though I still look much the same today [long hair, still - though just a wee tad grayer - etc.], I'm a lot different in my thoughts on things these day ... more ... shall I say it? ... c-o-n-s-e-r-v-a-t-i-v-e. Sorry.

Besides the passage of time, 2 major events led me down that path ... both fairly recent. September 11, 2001 was a life-altering event for me. The whole world looks different to me now. Again, if interested, you can read my early impressions of that event at 9-11-01. I still feel, more or less, the same.

So, can you tell yet that I spend a lot of waking hours working on web sites?!?

Oh, the second event - the birth of my youngest daughter, Sophia RosaMaria, this past October ... and hospitalized ever since. She's been fighting for her life for over 4 months now. She's never entered my home or uttered a sound, but her control over me is complete & total. Though she's been near death more than once, her will to live is undying. Other than my wife, she's the strongest person I know, and - I know this might sound corny - I believe she was sent here to bring me closer to God. In that, she has succeeded, though I still have a long way to go!

Anyway, that's me in a rather large nutshell. Will fill in the spaces right here over time with y'all!

The final scene of "The Last of the Mohicans" was shot here!

Yeah me too...
I was on my way home from work on LI back to New Jersey that morning and was on the Throggs Neck Bridege when the first plane hit, it was a clear day and when I heard the news on the radio and glanced at the city skyline form the bridge I could see the first Tower smoking, by the time I reached the GWB the second tower got hit and at that point I knew it was no accident, we were under attack..., I got home just in time ( after stopping at Tower Records in Paramus on RT 17 to pick up the New Bob Dylan album that came out that time " Love and Theft " ) just in time to see the first tower fall on TV...I can't even begin to explain the rage I felt...I wish I had a band just so I could have smashed every piece of equipment on stage while doing " We're Not gonna Take it " Twisted Sisters Version not the Who's this time... Anyway Richie, I feel the same way about this as you...I still hate war and am all for peace, but I am not gonna stand around and take crap like this from anyone so sign me up too ! if I was at the controls I hate to say this but on the morning after of September 12th...missles would have been flying...Like that Obscure John Lennon Song goes with the Elastic OZ Band....Oh God Save Us...

Absolutely, Bean! I have no regrets about our anti-war days. Still feel much the same about that ... This here ... this is different. SIGN ME UP!

I have never felt rage like I feel when I think about that day ...

Richie,
Nice piece on 9-11, and I agree with you. as much as I was against the VietNam War and our government back then I don't think we should stand by and take that kind of abuse from anyone...my only gripe with Bush is maybe that he hasn't been tough or agressive enough in retaliating and make those pay, not only those directly responsible bu anyone who supports and harbors terrorists...All we were saying is give peace a chance!
