Posted - March 27 2003 : 01:24:40 AM Just wanted to tell you Hello. Also want to thank you for this "Out by the Corner Mailbox',it's fun and I enjoy reading the ramblings! You've done a great thing here. It's a warm feeling, sharing memories. Especially when you live so far from home. It's weird when you move to another state. You make friends and all but, you seem to lose your past. Nobody knows who you were and how you became the person you are now. You never run into people you've known 15-20 yrs ago. But here, you have sort of built a bridge (like the little one at the green) so people can connect again. Elena R PS: Sorry if it sounds mushy and sweet and emotional, I guess I'm having a moment. |

Posted - March 31 2003 : 8:33:19 PM My First friend in Valley Stream was Judy Doc, she was incredibly funny. I lived on the other side of Merrick Rd closer to Sunrise Hwy & Hook Creek Blvd. Judy introduced me to Janie Powers thats were it all started -----
Judy was always match making Frank remember the "Jerry Jeff Walker" concert you took me to? I remember Judy calling me up asking what I was going to wear that night, was I shocked when you came to pick me up "matching outfits". Maroon or purple corduroy pants and brown shirts - what's a girl to do and off we went!
Then I met Doris, Joanne S, Joanne L, Janine, MaryAlice --- wasn't Doris the one who "pathed" the way for girls to wear jeans to school @ Memorial? (Karen can you help me out here)
Remember Eddie Makowski's Red Volkswagon Beetle we use to see how many of us could fit inside & drove around town stopping in the middle of traffic for chinese firedrills!!
Another match making by Judy -- I'd see Michael time to time at her house Dink was Doc friend / Judy mine. Each time I saw him I thought hmm...our first real conversation was sitting on the curb in front of Doc's house talking about "Neil Young".
We were married in 1975 at the historic St Georges Church in Hempstead. Richie's band "Cottonwood Sage" played at our reception. We moved to Ga 1979. (Benny mentioned it before) Doc ALWAYS kept us connected we never forgot all the wonderful years in NY!
After 9-11 Michael said we need to go back / we did last summer. Thanks Doc for getting as many people together as possible. We look forward to visiting again this summer - Lil |

Posted - March 29 2003 : 5:23:07 PM I agree Richie, we need to enalrge the crowd over time and also get those who have nevr posted or posted only once to join in more, so everyone on here if you are in contact with any old valley Streamers please let them know about this site, and Richie I liked the idea of you sending out weekly reminders to all registered members, maybe that will inspire them to check it out from time to time and post someting. maybe your reminders should highlite some of the past and current topics, that might spark some interest. Then there are the spouses & realitives of a few of us members who are valley streamers but who haven't posted yet, Come on Doris, Lillian, Terry, Ricky, and Elena ( Pascuzzi ) get your Cousin Mike on here, I emailed him but haven't heard back anything. and Doc where's Judy ? Bean aka Frank... and in the words of Canned Heat " Together we stand Divided we Fall Let's all work together and get on the ball, Let's work together Come on Come on Let's work together, Because together we will stand, every boy girl, woman & man " |

Posted - March 29 2003 : 08:50:38 AM You're welcome, guys & gals! My pleasure! Just glad some of you joined in ...
I know what you mean, Elena, being out-of-state myself. That's one of the great things about the Internet, though ... Now, if only we can enlarge the crowd! |

Posted - March 27 2003 : 01:32:33 AM Elena- Once a Valley Streamer & Village Greener, always one forever...after all " we are the village green preservation society " and I agree 69' thru 72 was like a blur... " It's been a long strange trip "..., and no need to apoligize for normal, sweet and mushy emotions ! and speaking of mushy... " If ever you think about the happiest days of your life Cast back your mind for a while And remember the time when you were a child. Don't think of things that make you sad, Just remember all the good times that you had.
Do you remember only happy days, Full of flaming Junes and summer holidays? Or do you remember those stormy Novembers When we walked in the wind and the rain? Schooldays were such happy days Now they seem so far away, I remember and I'll always treasure. Schooldays were the happiest days of your life But we never appreciate the good times we have Until it's too late.
I miss all the acquaintances we made And I'd go back if I could only find a way, Schooldays were the happiest days Though at the time they filled me with dismay. We only remember what we choose to remember. When I was a schoolboy I loathed regulations and rules I hated my textbooks and my school uniform, 'Cos it made me conform, And teachers were always disobeyed, But I'd go back if I could only find a way.
Schooldays were the happiest days, Now they seem so far away. I remember and I'll always treasure Schooldays were the happiest days of your life But we never appreciate the good times we have Until it's too late. Now I wish I hadn't strayed, And I'd go back if I could only find a way. Schooldays. " Ray Davies from the Kinks Schoolboys in Disgrace and btw THANKS RICHIE ! |
