Poll Question:
As the 2008 Presidential election draws nearer a large number of folks on both sides of the aisle are announcing their desire to hold that office. I've listed 7 folks from each major party- who would you ideally like to vote for? If your person isn't listed then tell us about them and tell us how to find out more about them.
Many people seem to think that this next election will be one of the most crucial in US history- any thoughts? Anyone you are afraid to have win? Any candidates that you see as being able to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans?

UPDATE- as candidates drop out of the race they will be dropped from the poll

Choices:

Mike Gravel
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Mike Huckabee
John McCain
Barack Obama
Ron Paul

I still think there's a chance Al Gore might join the race. If I remember correctly, didn't Bill Clinton officialy announce relatively late?

Newt Gingrich!! Let's see, wasn't he having an affair right at the time he was screaming about Slick Willy & Monica?

Newt & Al Gore, the 2 who might be worse than Hillary...

Under those guide lines, not most ex-presidents wouldn't be able to run, especially Jack Kennedy. Sometimes we tend to forget, we're not selecting someone for sainthood, but a human being to do a certain and difficult job.

I"ve already seen at least five "Newt in 2008" bumper stickers in my wanderings around South Carolina in the past month or so, as opposed to absolutely no other stickers for other Republican candidates who have already declared. I don't quite know what exactly this says about South Carolina political tastes, but the Republican party here is already very fractured as to who they would support. So it'll be interesting.

See this face? This is the face of a woman on the edge.

MG, I wasn't complaining about Clinton's or JFK's daliances (although that offends me greatly) but about the blatant hypocracy of Gingrich going ballistic over Clinton's sexual escapades while he was doing the same sort of thing...

Actually, Clinton's bald-faced lies about his 'indescretions' are what really get my goat. That, and claiming that he 'didn't inhale.'

Ya' know I really hate voting! All politicians talk with "forked tongues". I can't stand hypocracy and lying. Still, I vote for the one I "believe" (if'n you wanna' call it that) the most.
Sure as hell it won't be Clinton!! BOOHISS!

As a Libertarian, I would most likely vote for whomever wins that nomination. There are about a half dozen Libertarians running--hard to guess who among them will get the nomination.

Iraq War is the main issue for me.

Many folks think he'd make a great President. However, he has to get past the primaries, very expensive and that isn't even the real fight. Both parties "pick" their candidate - not the people. His only alternative is to run as an independent - doubt he has the bucks. Carter ran at a time as an outsider, a popular idea with the people, but not the party. When he ran for re-election, Kennedy ran against him!! That divided the Dems like no tommorrow - and he was done before it started. Regan was going to win anyway - the election was just a formality. Unless he can get the parties nomination, - he doesn't stand a chance.

isn't that the truth. all you can do is a little research to figure out the subtle differences between crap, manure, turd, feces, dingleberry and guano then go to the polls and vote for one of them. as long as people care enough to make that choice they're doing their bit to improve the system. if people don't care enough to do that they shouldn't complain about the stink.

Here's an email I recently received from my brother-in-law. It just seems to fit here:
quote:
Don't know if this is accurate - but it sure is funny! GW
>
>
>
>
>*********************************************************************************************************
>
>
>
> Many will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed that an
>unidentified object with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep & cattle
>ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well-known incident that
>many say has long been covered up by theU.S. Air Force and the federal
>government.
>
>However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of March 1948, exactly
>nine months after that historic day, the following people were born:
>
>Albert Arnold Gore, Jr.
>Hillary Rodham
>John F. Kerry
>William Jefferson Clinton
>Howard Dean
>Nancy Pelosi
>Dianne Feinstein
>Charles E. Schumer
>Barbara Boxer
>
>See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?
>
>This piece of information may clear up a lot of things

Unfortunately, the birth dates aren't quite accurate, after all. Only Al Gore was born in March of 1948. So...this leads me to believe that old Al actually told the truth for once in his life!
