I believe that one or two of you folks (more like A WHOLE BUNCH O’ YE!!) follow the daily happenings of that revered gentleman, Daniel Day Lewis. And I believe the rumour was that he had gone off to Italy to make shoes!!! Well… this week I happened to receive an email from an old friend, wherein she brought me up-to-speed on the latest SHOE FASHIONS OF ITALY!! And I have to say… it seems DDL is indeed capitalising on his role of Hawkeye!! It’s PATENTLY OBVIOUS he has noticed a little ‘niche’ in the 'LONGHUNTER' market…
Firstly, Hawkeye obviously feels a redesign in ‘leggings’ is in order. Here we have a pair of legs… errrr… LEGGINGS, designed to protect yer legs, right up to yer… errr… natural conclusion! And for those who’s height is just a smidge height challenged, he has included a 12 inch heel… and sole... and whatever else...
SAFETY FIRST, PEOPLE!!! SAFETY FIRST, is the keyword here!!! RED leggings!!!! You HAVE TO BE SEEN in them there woods, so that you don’t get fired on by some over-enthusiastic hunter!! Well, yes, the HURONS will see you too, but… a man’s gotta take SOME risks and being gunned down by a redneck hillbilly blaaaaaastin' away at squirrels is NOT one of them!!! GET YER RED LEGGINGS ON THIS AUTUMN!!!!

Okay folks… there is GONNA BE some wet days in those woods!! Therefore, Hawkeye needs 'Wellies'!! Here we are – a pair of shiny, knee length Wellies, for all discriminatin’ WET 'Even looooonger-hunters'!!! And should ye happen to have the misfortune to get lost in the woods, (heck, even Hawkeye is bound to have had ‘one of those days’ when NUTHIN seems to go right!), ye can take a direction reading from the sun shining off the toe o’ yer shiny, wet-weather boots (AFTER it stops raining, of course!). Fulfill TWO NEEDS AT ONCE!! How’s THAT for versatility????

And JUST IN CASE Hawkeye has to attend a function in the Officer’s Mess (heck, he’s courting an Officer’s daughter – it COULD happen!), then he’s going to need ‘evening dress’… Well, he’s going to have to just wear what he has but… he will have THE RIGHT BOOTS! ‘Sparkly’ for sparkin’,.. can’t get more romantic, can ye??

Now, at the risk of sounding CRUEL, well, I reckon Hawkeye wasn’t too taken with LADIES 18th Century shoes either!!! It seems he has taken matters in hand and has designed a MUCH MORE PRACTICAL set of footwear for the more discerning ladies of the Frontier!!!

Here we have a pair of shoes designed SPECIALLY for Hawkeye’s dear friend, ‘OLD CRONE’, dontcha know… Well… RED COMBAT BOOTS are handy, there’s no denying it!! BUT EVEN AN OLD CRONE goes out sparkin’ occasionally!!! (Didn’t she have a little‘dilly-dally’ with…) ANYWAY, Hawkeye reckons she’s gotta have the right foot gear! It’s all in ‘presentation’, dontcha know!

Now, Alexandra!! Where has SHE been going wrong???? Well, Hawkeye reckons that she isn’t giving enough attention to the heels!! She’s gotta have BIG ONES so that she can see over the fields of Maize, to where those rascally boys (were they REALLY ‘boys’ with hair that long???? I have my suspicions, huh!) are out playing… HEELS are essential when working with kids!

some of these foot fashions resemble the Chinese bound feet, no? I will stick to my Birkenstocks, thanks, or go barefoot. Maybe it's my age, but in order for me to like shoes or clothing of any kind, it hasta be COMFY! These shoes and boots and whatevers look like torture, to me! |
