Well guys - I will be away for a couple of weeks as my "Electronic Connection" won't be available when I am home for Christmas. A while back I had talked a bit about my daughter, Jordan, having surgery this past June to remove a tumor in her right upper arm. While we knew the entire tumor had not been excised (not really the goal of that surgery anyway) we didn't think it would recur quite as fast as it has. She had a little "satellite" tumor (sort of) that was not gotten at the previous surgery and has grown to be larger than the first one. So now that school is out for the holidays, Jordan will undergo a "wide re-excision" (I suppose you could say that means get it all this time and then some just to make sure - GIT 'ER DONE so to speak) of the tumor Thursday morning. She may need a skin graft this time to cover what will be a rather large incisional opening. She is most worried about this as her arms are QUITE freckley and her thigh, where they'd take the skin from, is NOT. I promised her freckle tattoos if need be. She did so AWESOME after the first surgery and I have to believe all the thoughts and well wishes coming her way must have helped that to happen...SOOOOOO, if you get a wee bit of time Wednesday evening, send some thoughts Jordan's way for her surgery the next day to go as well as can be hoped for. She will definitely lose some function this go round, as they must remove her entire deltoid muscle, but positive thoughts and prayers from friends may even minimize that! AND DON'T FORGET to keep WW's Gary up on your list too!

I hate to be less than chipper when posting about this, but like I said earlier - I truly believe all the thoughts and vibes from our friends helped her to recover BEAUTIFULLY last time, and well... we could use a little helping of those again if you don't mind!

If I do not get back online until after the holidays - everyone please have a blessed and warm holiday with your family and friends!!! You are all dear friends and I am so thankful to have you to turn to and I just have to know, and of course I'd do the same for all of you!

MERRY CHRISTMAS * and thanks in advance for thinking about my Jordybell on Thursday! I'll let someone know how things go!

Diana,
You already know that I am praying for Jordan. I know that this time the doctors will get all of that pesky little rascal (the tumor, not Jordan!)

You will be amazed at what she will learn to do without that muscle!

Hang tight, Mom!

Love, Joyce.

Don't worry, GG, we won't forget you and Jordan! You'll be in our thoughts and prayers right there beside Joyce and Gary. And may you have a warm and wonderful holiday season, too.

Hey there, m' dear Friends,

You KNOW that I'm thinking about you both today!!! Diana, my dear, all is going to be well. With so many folks focusing their good thoughts and prayers on Jordan today, she can't fail to come through this with flying colours!

Remember - your Doctor knows what he is about, and he's going to do his very best for Jordan, Sweetie. Afterwards, it's Jordan's great attitude and her wonderfully strong outlook on life (just like her moma! ) that's going to get her to a good place!

Just get her that 'Palmers Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E', get her massaging those scars (when the Doc says okay) and have the Arnica ready for tomorrow - and her great (YOUNG!) spirit will do the rest!

I'm there with ye, Hon... and praying...

Kate

GG,
I have a daughter who has a rare skin disorder, and has been through 16 surgeries since she was four, she is 11 now. It is on her left arm and left side of her body. Even though it isnt cancer, it is scarring. My point of all this is you spoke of skin grafts.... there is no guarantee of them working. They are going to use skin expanders on my daughter when the correct time comes around. Skin expanders are like balloons placed underneath the skin and injected with saline over a period of time. What this does is grow that persons own skin. The scar tissue then can be removed and the extra skin that was grown, put in place of it. This way a secondary site doesnt have to be opened and the chance of tissue rejection much less. Maybe freckle tattooing wont be necessary this way either.

Just a thought, I hope all goes well and I will continue to keep your daughter and your entire family in prayer.
