This is a wacky time of year for it, but I am moving to Tennessee! I've packed up 95% of my household, put it in storage, and Wednesday morning will be traveling with my 3 kitties (Mattie Mae, Sophie Pearl & Molly Sue) to Nashville! I have a very dear friend who is now living there and working toward starting her art therapy practice. She doesn't have any friends in the area except her boyfriend, who is a long-time Saturn employee, and felt it was SERENDIPITY that I need a place to stay while I'm job-hunting.
I don't know if I'll like Nashville (I'm a Winter Girl, and I've been told Nashville is not for Winter People), but I am keeping my mind open to whatever happens. Meanwhile, I expect to find freelance work designing CD covers! All I need to do, I'm told, is put my business card on the message boards on Music Row, and the business will follow. For those of you who saw the CD cover samples that I designed for my son, you'll understand the serendipity of THAT. By the way, the CD cover that most of you thought was the best was not even one he considered! I called his music "mellow grunge", and he said, "Mom, there is Nothing Mellow About Our Music!" He was insulted! They are still undecided about what they'll want for a cover, but I'll post the one he likes the best so far. Once they get the required amount of cash, they will cut their CD and get it on the market. What fun!
Anyway, I hope that being in the Music Capitol of the Entire Universe will hold some sort of good surprises, now matter where I end up. It sounds like a fascinating place to be!
I will, of course, still be on the Message Board, and again, wish you All the Happiest -- and Most Peaceful -- Holiday Season!
Blueotter p.s. I'll let ya'll know if I run into any music stars, OK?

You'll love Nashville! I lived there for 13 years, and we are hoping Wes Studi will have another concert there in June! If you are a fan of Magua, you are welcome to join us! What part of Nashville are you moving to? Wes has a cute single brother there! ;-) Carter |

Carter,
I will be living in Franklin.
Yes, I am a Magua fan... or rather a Wes Studi fan. I've seen him in several films and think he is pretty wonderful!
Hmmm.... a cute single brother? Please tell me more!! How old is he? I do prefer younger men, but not TOO young. |

Rose,
Franklin is one of the neatest towns! My daughter lived in Thompson's Station for several years and whenever we went to visit her, we always went to Franklin to shop, eat, antique....there are some fabulous stores and restaurants there! I REALLY miss it.....
It is out of our time period, but that whole area is a Civil War nut's Mother Lode. I visited my first Confederate Cemetery at Carnton Plantation, a very moving experience for this Yankee boy.
Anyway, good luck in your move, and have a ball! You will love it all!! |

I don't know his exact age...he's got grown children. He's a musician. If Wes has another concert in Nashville this year, you can come and check Bob out (and Wes too!). ;-)
Franklin is a lovely town! Lot's of cute boutiques and shops. I lived in Hendersonville, which is on the north side of Nashville.
Blessings, Carter |

Seamus, The friend I'll be living with loves Franklin, too! She said there are parts that remind her of the twin cities where we knew each other in Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), which I would love.
Carter, A man with grown children is old enough. If I am still in the area when Wes has a concert, then you can count me in! I think that would be one of the neatest things, without a doubt! Where can someone like me find a picture of said single brother?
Thanks for the support, guys! I need it today especially, since I picked up my U-Haul trailer, and even though it's the littlest one, I haven't got the knack for backing it up behind my Wrangler! Driving it down the road is no problem because it just follows me like a puppy dog. And I FINALLY figured out how to get the darn knob to turn when I wanted to unhitch it! I have to drive somewhere tonight and I didn't want to take the trailer with me. But I couldn't BUDGE the knob. Finally, I wiggled it, lifted the trailer hitch up a bit, and it WORKED! Another victory for so-called Helpless Women! Next, I will learn how to change my own oil, put in new spark plugs and wires, and change a freakin' tire! I've never had to change a tire by myself... always seems to be a man pop out of the woodwork wanting to help. That's really nice, and all, but it's also scary, like when a truck driver will go up to the next exit and drive back the other way to stop and help. Know what I mean? Adieu, Rose |

We have several pictures of him in our "Member's Only" section of our website, but you need a password to get in. I'll see if I can somehow copy and paste a pic over here. I'm not very compuer savvy. Or perhaps some of the members here have a pic to share.

i am here in franklin... unloaded but not quite settled. seems as though doing as much packing and loading as I had to do -- not to mention the driving (and sleeping at rest areas because i couldn't keep my eyes open) was not conducive to my health! My right hand is puffed up, achey and half-numb, which I suspect is an outbreak of carpal tunnel horrors. I am going to lay low until the swelling goes down. My lovely hosts, Suzanne and her daughter Kaitlyn (22) are great... telling me not to worry about anything. Just rest. I am typing now only with the aid of a wrist brace and aspiring, but I DO believe that I will be OK. The landscape is gorgeous, especially with everything covered with frost and the sunrise making it glisten! The places where I-65 cuts through the mountains had little frozen waterfalls all along the way. Everyone down here is TONS more friendly than northern Ohio or central Illinois, even! I've been told, however, that Franklin is the highest-taxed area in the entire nation. I guess I won't be buying a house HERE!
Carter, which part of the message board is members only? I am a registered member with a password, but is there yet another level that is available? Let me know. I am intrigued, to say the least.
Hope everyone in Mohicanville is getting ready for a very pleasant and magical holiday. We are here... I have shopping to do (window shopping for now) and galleries and museums to fall into like a drug habit! My host is a fellow artist and scholar of the world, and she is anxious to show me her new home of Franklin/Nashville.
Goodnight all, Blueotter Rose |
