Okay, we all know that the waterfall that Magua chased Hawkeye and gang under was fake. Does anyone know where they filmed that scene, and how they got it to look like a waterfall? Any guesses?

The where...I believe was a sound stage in Asheville, very close to Spirits on the River too (I could be mistaken there)!

NOW, the HOW...uh....lotsa crew members with pitchers? Seriously...don't know the how part.

That was it, GG. A warehouse at the River Ridge Market - as you say, very close to Spirits on the River. In fact, that water comes from the Swannanoa River, the same river which flows by Spirits' back deck.

Don't forget, the "entry" to the cave itself is real - the walking behind the falls part of the scene - Bridal Veil Falls in Dupont State Forest.

Check the Mohican Musings Index - there's a bit from Curtis Gaston - Soldier #1 - on the filming in the warehouse in there. http://www.mohicanpress.com/mo06022.html

Y'all are just too good!!!
GG, the "how" is that tons of water was recycled to create the illusion of a waterfall.
Okay, second trivia question.
What other location was considered for the movie besides N.C.
Rich, I may have to ban you from answering because you know all the answers.

WW,
Well actually they could have considered New York state as another possible location, because the book says that they had considered other states, but it boiled down to N.C. and this other location.
(Hint, it's not in the U.S.)

Well, at least you guessed, even if it was a smart-alecky guess. This is for you not taking my trivia seriously. BTW, why did they shoot Cold Mountain in Romania? I remember hearing something about it, but I can't remember why they did it. No, you don't get any extra points for the Cold Mountain answer.

They shot CM in Romania because production costs are cheaper.

Okay, nobody got the second trivia question right, but WW was the closest, so I am going to give her that point. The answer is Canada.
So, GG has one point and WW has one point. BTW, y'all are playing for a prize. Nope, I'm not going to tell you what it is. You will just have to find out when the trivia game is over.

Are y'all ready for the third trivia question??? Well, here it is anyway.
How much estimated money did LOTM bring into the Asheville area?

I can see that y'all don't like money questions. The answer to,
"How much money did LOTM bring to the Asheville area?" is an estimated $25 million. That's a nice chunk of change. Okay, here is another question.
LOTM was nominated for an Oscar. In what category was it nominated for?

Good guess Theresa, but it was for something else. You can always guess again. If nobody else guesses, then you still get the point. My little game is very flexible.

Well, you did good girl!!! I wouldn't know any of these answers if I didn't have them right in front of
me.
Here's a picture that I found in a magazine. It's not the best picture, but you can make out Russell, Jodhi, Daniel, and Michael Mann with the megaphone. I don't know who is laying down in the canoe, who is standing outside of the canoe and who is to the left of Michael Mann. Can y'all tell? No, this doesn't go towards a point in thr game, although it ahould if somebody can make out who these other people are!!!

GG,
I don't think that it is Eric, but even with the original in front of me, it is hard for me to make out faces. I tried to get a closer shot of him, but the picture came out grainy, but you still might be able to tell something from it.

Nawwwww, on closer inspection, it DOES NOT look like Uncas. AND YES Theresa, that does look like Curtis laying in Cora's lap (she is hidden behind the NOT Uncas) poor devil! I sure hope Curtis got hardship pay for having to lie in a lovely river, in a cool canoe, all the while having to rest his poor head in a pretty girl's lap. Oh what guys will endure to be in a movie!
