Yesterday morning I awoke to a void in Mohicanland ... no website. Nothing. Not a site, or messageboard, or FTP, or e-mail. It's been a long time since something like that has occurred. I thought that perhaps my web hosting company pulled up and left town, as their site was down as well. Finally, I managed to make contact with them via Messenger and, luckily, it was something not quite as nefarious.

Our internet is down. A woodpecker drilled a hole through a canister for our fiber cable down the street and made a nest in there. It also chewed the wires inside the canister. Optimum is working to fix it.

So, as you can see, we're back. I wonder what happened to Woody?

Some years back squirrels got inside the transformer box and shorted it out four weeks in a row. Our side of the neighborhood was out of power, and of course the squirrel was fried. Next week, another squirrel. I ask the power company if anything could be done and the answer was no. That's just the way it is. After the four weeks, what was left of the squirrels moved on.
