Those who were at Gatherings about 10 years ago may remember the French Broad Rifles location where we had black powder shoots and dinner afterwards. Last weekend was the date for the sites annual Fall shoot and included camping for those who wanted to do it. There were numerous special targets and, in my opinion the best, a 2-hour woods walk that went up the side of the mountain that is just to the right side of the range. There were 20 special targets to shoot at at varying ranges and spaced at varying intervals. All were metal and moved when you hit them, so no question of a hit or miss. After the last target you finished near the top of the mountain and could look down on the range and the mountains in the distance. Very spectacular! The winner got a choice of prizes. I did better than I thought I would, but not even close to the younger shooters. After climbing a ways and stopping to catch your breath, it is hard to hold on a target for someone who is not in the best of shape! But it was the most fun I have had in a long time. I love that place. You just can't say "Mohican" while you are there.

No, I didn't take a camera and didn't see anyone else with one.

That is a great place and has some great memories for me! So, Fitz, what's up with not saying "Mohican"?
