There was a very good event last weekend in Ogdensburg, NY last weekend. I thought I might run into some folks from NY and PA but I didn't see any.

Well, I saw you!!! I would have spoken to you, but you were occupied with trying to kill my countrymen!

Fitz, I had fully intended to take a stroll over to the French Camp to look for you. Unfortunately, there was so much going on between camp activities (food, etc.), shopping, preparing to watch water and land battles and artillery firing displays, etc., that I just simply didn't make it. I didn't even get out to see the cute little lighthouse! I apologize most sincerely! It was not my intention to leave without speaking to you.

You even marched past me during the review parade on Sunday... about 10 feet from where I was standing. I considered calling out to you, but decided that wouldn't be appropriate at that time. I hoped you would look my way, but you didn't. Ah, well....

I do have a couple of good photos of you in action. I will email the large sizes to you, and will post them here in this thread for others to see, as well.

I thought it was a really great event. And what a beautiful location! It was s-o-o-o nice to be back up in "my" North Country again. I lived about 30 miles from Ogdensburg on a small farm for 8 years back in the 80s. Both of my kids were born in the Ogdensburg Hospital. It made me realize just how much I do miss it.

I will have to say that the country north of Syracuse is as beautiful as any I have seen. At least in Summer.

I managed to get to the dance on Friday, and even danced a couple, then sat on the porch of the Freight House Restaurant until about midnight talking with some friends. I even brought a complete set of "Brit" clothes with the intention of walking through the other camp. But I never made it.

During the review on Sunday I was a little preoccupied. I had mentioned earlier to the commander that the person in charge of our group was a touch inexperienced and Saturday was a cluster----. So as we lined up Sunday, he motioned me out and said "you just got promoted, straighten it out". And this with the other guy still in command. So there were things on my mind. Like remembering to keep my mouth shut.

And on Sunday, "I didn't experience anything so surprising from Bristol to Albany as what I witnessed here today." A sweetgrass ceremony incorporated into a Catholic Mass ! Rich, what about this ?

Well, I can take an uneducated stab ... Catholic Mass is adaptable to the needs/customs of the specific congregation. There is a book, The Pipe and the Pope, or maybe it was the other way around - I forget - I have the book, somewhere - I have moved so much in the last 6+ years that I have lost track of where some of my stuff is --- anyway, it was written by a Priest and compares the similarities in customs and sacred rites of Catholicism to the Lakota religion. Interesting read.

Someone by the name of Elizabeth Huxford took a number of pictures and has them on Facebook, but you DON'T have to be a member to see them.

They did even manage to get on of me. I am in this picture.

Oh, rats! That reminds me that I promised to post a few of Fitz, as well! I'll try to remember to do that from work tomorrow, because that's where PhotoShop is.

Those are great photos! I saw a number of people I know, including Kurt! I also meant to tell you all that I spoke with him. He is well, just doesn't get on the computer much. You can see him again in photo number 72. He's the one with the beard.

Who... Meeeee???? Holding a Froggie Flag???? Never!!

If you take a look at photo number 38, you will see the musicians who were there. The drummer on the far right is our own Augusta Regiment Drummer, Jim Bolich... aka "Rummer." He's the best!

The fifer is historical artist Pamela Patrick White, and the drummer next to her is her husband, Bryant White, who is also an artist of some renown. They are both members of the 1st Pennsylvania Provincial Regiment, Conrad Weiser's Battalion. The Weiser Battalion is the "brother" regiment of the 3rd Pennsylvania Provincial Regiment, also called the Augusta Regiment, of which Seamus is the Captain.

Anyway, if you are not familiar with the artwork of Pam and Bryant, you can check it out here: www.whitehistoricart.com

Btw, Pam has done the most beautiful portrait of General Washington I have ever seen. The moment I laid eyes on it, I knew I had to have a print. So, I do.
