Does anybody else watch the UK version (original version) Region 2 on their computer? I ordered a copy from Amazon UK just to have the original on DVD and was pleasantly surprised that my computer recognized it as a Region 2 DVD. Not having a regionless DVD player, this was great! Image is really crystal clear on the computer. Oh yeah...it’s good to have a really comfortable chair.

you could try , but i'd put up a good fight!

whoa - two dvd players in the one computer! That's pretty extravagant isn't it?

How convenient though for playing different region's disks. Mystery solved. Thanks Mountain Man. (although now I know I'll have to get a region 1 specific player if I want to watch region 1 disks.... and so many of Eric's movies are only available as Region 1's.... ) another thing to add to the wish list!

paazau, I would tell you ... but then I would have to kill you! Just kidding!!! I do have a dvd player that I use exclusively for Region 2. My computer came with two dvd players in it, so I disignated one for Region 2 & the other for Region 1.

Thanks Mountain Man. I knew about the different regions, but wasn't sure if 1 and 2 were compatible. As they aren't I was curious how you get around the settings; do you have a dvd player you use exclusively for the Region 2 dvd (or would that be giving away top-secret information???)

I don't appear to be able to get the Director's Cut in a Region 4 dvd and am not sure I want to leave my pc set at Region 1

Depending on where you live in the world dictates what region your DVD player will be ... hence what region DVD you play in it. We here in the U.S. are Region 1 ... you living in Australia are Region 4, Europe & other countries are Region 2. In the case of LOTM ... only Region 1, which is the U.S., has the Director’s Cut. Depending on what region DVD you are watching will determine what region you set your computer at. Since you cannot get the Directors Cut in a region 4 and you say your computer DVD drive can only be changed four times ... I would leave it at four since that is region you live in.

To quote Hawkeye “Clear it up any?”. Hope this helps.

My monitor has settings for contrast, etc. Putting it in movie mode brightened things considerably.

Now that I've watched the dvd on my (repaired) telly I found that the picture is even brighter than it was on the computer. I tried the setting buttons on the front of the monitor, but it didn't help any. Brightness and contrast were at the max settings. Sounds like I'd better look into the settings further and see if there are anymore I can change. Thanks richfed!

Great! Rich. It’s good to hear that someone else can enjoy the original theatrical version this way. Using the computer also comes in handy when you want to check out a particular scene in the movie ... real convenient, and you can see a lot more detail.

Just got my Region 2 disc yesterday ... popped it in my computer ... VOILA! ... The original theatrical version on DVD! Looks & sounds great! My monitor has settings for contrast, etc. Putting it in movie mode brightened things considerably. For those in dismay over the Director's Cut, I would highly recommend this!

Hi Mountain Man,
I know, isn't it just the clearest??!! I recently bought the dvd and watched it on the tv first. I couldn't see alot of the darker scenes so stuck it in the computer and voila! The dvd version I have even has subtitles of the whole movie so you can pick up all those words you miss. Now if only my computer screen were bigger....

Thank you! Wilderness Women. Glad to be aboard!

Well...even if you can't watch it, just having the original on DVD kind of gives you a feeling of satisfaction. Does that make any sense? I guess only an obsessed fan of the movie, like myself would think that way .

First of all... Welcome Mountain Man! Glad to have you on board!

I would love to have the DVD of the theatrical version. My problem is that my ancient computer does not have DVD capabilities. Sigh. Maybe soon...

You can get the original movie on DVD at the following address - http://www.amazon.co.uk. If you order from the U.S., the British Pound Conversion
comes to about $32.00. That price includes shipping.
