Posted - July 12 2002 : 12:38:07 AM Confess, how many times have you seen LOTM on the big screen? I've kind of lost count, but I think it must be around 15 times! It was quite embarrassing, because I kept getting my tickets from the same person at the box office. She must have thought that I was seriously deranged! It got to the point where I would skulk around until there was another person at the teller, then buy a ticket from them! Is that obsessed or what?!

Posted - May 07 2004 : 02:14:10 AM Can't count.. I watched it once on big screen..when i was ten...and the irony of it of that it was my dad who practically had to drag me to watch it with him, my mom and my sister. I fell in love with it on the spot..(spot! )..then i bought the VHS..watched it like every day during my vacation..bought the soundtrack..then my VHS cracked up..didn't watched it for a few years..then it came on TV..and I realised how much I missed it! So I bought the VCD..watched it madly again..and didn't watch again for a while..then just two months back..they showed it over TV again..and I dug my Vcd out to watch again..and started watching it almost everyday....and well... still going strong.. :) |

Posted - May 06 2004 : 7:26:16 PM Well... I never actually saw this movie on the big screen when it came out. But - I DID put it on my 'Christmas List' that year, hoping someone would buy me the video. Right enough, someone DID!! HOWEVER, IT WAS ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF BEFORE I ACTUALLY WATCHED IT!! I put it in the cupboard with all the rest of the video's and - FORGOT ALL ABOUT IT!!
One evening, I was in on my own, there was nothing worth watching on TV and I was mooching around, wondering whether to watch a video or just turn the TV off and go sew and listen to music. I was going through all the video's I had, in my mind and was thinking 'nope, don't want to watch that, don't want to watch THAT, DEFINITELY don't want to watch THAT! HUH!!" Then I thought I'd just check in the cupboard and see if there was any video's of my son's that I might enjoy (yeah, right, WHATEVER!) and - THERE IT WAS! Staring out at me, crying "YOU NUMPTY!!! YOU WANTED ME AND YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED ME YET!!!" And I thought "yeah, this MIGHT be just the thing for a boring night...", as you do.
Well... as I once said to Caitlin, it took me about four months to watch it right through! The first of that stirring music opened, those... men, ran through the forest, hair flying, bare chest sweatin'... and - CLICK! I hit that 'rewind' button faster'n greased lightnin'!!! Well, DO YOU BLAME ME???? We got to the 'Cameron's Cabin' scene... and those husky, male voices spoke... and CLICK!!! I hit that 're-wind' button AGAIN!! AND AGAIN!!!
As I say, it took me near four months to see the whole movie right through!!!! It was a REAL MARATHON... *WHEW!!!*... But like the trouper I am, I PERSEVERED!!! I GOT TO THE END!!
And re-wound it...
Does that 'four month Epic' count as ONE viewing or... several??? Since then, I've seen it three times on the Big Screen at three Gatherings, and at home I've watched it, oh... let's just say that I've had FOUR VIDEO PLAYERS since getting that movie! And guess who got their DVD Player specially to see the 'Director's Cut'????
How many times have I watched it????? Good question - answer is -"how long is a piece of string?????" |

Posted - May 06 2004 : 5:22:45 PM I've seen the movie twice on the big screen -- once when it first came out and then again at Gathering in 2001. I remember knowing right from seeing the posters that I was going to love this film -- even though at the time I barely knew anything about DDL, the book, etc. My mother, I recall, lamented the fact that I was going to see the film by myself. Trust me, I DIDN'T MIND being alone for it!!! The better to drool in peace over it!!! How much of an impact did the film have on me? I even remember what I wore the day I saw it -- green sweater, jeans, my African earrings and hiking boots. Now, when it comes to how many times I've seen the VIDEO???? Okay, we're way into the 50 plus range ...and that doesn't include how MANY times certain scenes have been viewed by moi...i.e. the fall in the Huron village, the kiss, etc. etc. Proof positive of why I suffer from "Mohican Thumb" --too much rewinding!!! |

Posted - July 12 2002 : 11:25:34 AM I think I saw it 3 or 4 times in the theater and then once when I attended a Gathering. Hey, maybe that's why Rich and Elaine keep hosting these Gatherings to make up for the lost time since they never had a chance to see it during the original theatrical release!
