Posted - September 15 2020 : 07:33:23 AM I had plans on doing something more this year, but everything has been cancelled. I got a mailing from the Pequawkets saying the every event they had scheduled this entire year was cancelled. I even thought about just making a personal tour of some sites, but then I realized that most are closed, restaurants are closed, some motels I use are closed. and I would hate to ride 500 miles just to turn around and drive back. And the few places that are open have the people who are in period dress wearing masks. That just looks wrong. So I will have to wait. |

Posted - September 14 2020 : 5:31:19 PM Well - maybe you should "give it one more shot" at say Crown Point - or some "kind of" northern trip, if you still can. |

Posted - September 14 2020 : 06:38:58 AM I haven't seen some of those people in ten years. It sure makes me miss the events in the north. Fort Frederick is a lot different. Probably more my type of event, but nevertheless I still miss Crown Point. And I am still a dues-paying member of the Pequawkets. |

Posted - September 13 2020 : 3:53:33 PM Didn't open this year until July and now only open three days a week & have cut back on a few events PLUS the "Harvest Dinner" in late October - that's a pretty good money maker. The Grand Hall is packed at $45.00 a head - with everything being donated, no real costs. . Pequawket Alliance. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhOgPBtnc3g |

Posted - September 13 2020 : 06:50:13 AM I sure hope they are able to have some events. That is sort of "home base" for the Pequawket Alliance. |

Posted - September 12 2020 : 2:01:59 PM Got there as it just opened - there were four other folks there (visitors) plus three volunteers, dressed in period clothes. Aside from that no one else showed up that I saw. - Weather was great, low 70's, no humidity and a light breeze. That was Friday 9.11.20 ... Saturday -Sunday, have no idea. but much better I hope. - They're only open three days a week now, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The girl working in the shop told me 4 areas are now closed for the season. - The state requirements on sanitation are simply too costly to keep everything "up & running" - all virus related. ... Weather permitting I'm going back for an event on September 27th. - Two weeks ago I somehow missed the annual Abenaki weekend - which they said was a good draw - hope so. . I asked them about plans for another one or two "winter events." - They said they're looking at improved heating plus the state requirements on having folks inside like last year could be a problem. - They're gonna give it a shot if they can ... |
