Our World War II veterans are dying by the hundreds every day. Soon it will be too late... they will all be gone. A man who is in the Augusta Regiment with Seamus and I does something that I think is very neat. When we are at events and are dealing with the public, whenever he sees an elderly man who might be in his 80s, he asks the man, "Are you a veteran?" If the man answers yes, he asks, "Were you in World War II or Korea?" If the man answers yes, he holds out his hand and says, "I just want to say Thank You for your service to our country!" If the gentleman seems amenable, he will then ask what branch of service, when, where, etc. Often, he finds men who are more than willing to talk about their experiences during the wars. They are proud of it! Alan has heard some amazing stories. So, I think we should all do as Alan does. Seek out these wonderful old soldiers, while we still can.
