Today I attended my 9th 225th Rev. War Battle Commemoration re-enactment.

It took place in Livingston County, New York, nestled deep in Seneca country near Conesus Lake. It was the 225th Anniversary of the torture and massacre of Lt. Thomas Boyd and Sgt. Michael Parker. These men were part of a scouting party sent by Gen. Sullivan to locate the Genesee Castle (Indian village), as part of the Sullivan Expedition against the Iroquois Nations. Their party was ambushed by the Native and Loyalist forces and Boyd and Parker were captured, horribly tortured and killed. Go Here to read the full story.

It was a small event, but very nicely done, with appropriate ceremonies in two locations: the Ambuscade Park where the ambush took place and the bodies were originally buried, and the site a few miles away where the men were force-marched to and their torture took place. I attended with two friends, and we all "dressed." It was a brilliant, early fall day and I enjoyed it very much.
