I remember coming out of the theater after seeing LOM and saying to my wife that I'd like to see where that was filmed some day. Last week Rich made that possible for us. On our way to Emerald Isle for Thanksgiving with our son we were able to stop in Asheville and see everything we had hoped to in 3 days before heading over to the coast. The Bass Pond Bridge, Triple Falls et al, Chimney Rock Park, Lake James and Linville Falls...impossible without Rich's book! I've looked over this site several times in the past couple of days since returning to PA...what a vast effort it must have been to create all this...a labor of love for sure.I am going to try to post a couple of pics to share with anyone who cares to see them...I have many good ones and would be willing to share them...or any part of our adventure with anyone interested...pls don't be too harsh if I screw it up PC's are not my forte...yet. The one thing I will not screw up is this...Thanks Rich for all your hard work...you made a dream come true...very rare these days...I willn't forget.
Best Wishes Always,

Steve(Hawkeye)and Judy(Cora)Peters

The pictures are wonderful Steve, thank you!

What a great trip down memory lane, especially since I live so far away now... sigh....

Hey, anyone else have some great pics to post? It's still awhile till the next gathering and it seems like it will be a long dry spell...

Rich: Thanks for the help...as for comments...I'm sure most of you recognize the areas if you've seen the movie but for you "out-of-towners"...the first two are at Triple Falls, site of the River Walk...the next one is the Bass Pond Bridge at Biltmore, Heyward meets Cora...the next 4 are at Chimney Rock Park, The Cliffs...the next two are
at Lake James, Canoes...and the last 3 are at Linville Falls, "understand English very well"- what a great line! If you've never been there it is some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. Judy, Zach (yellow), Stu(chocolate),and I did 6 areas in 2 1/2 days...for more pics if you'd like just drop me a note. Hope to see you all this soon.

Steve

PS No bull...this would be impossible to do without the book!

Steve,
You don't know the half of went into that book of Rich's; you would have loved the Gatherings.....with Rich trying to remember which road is which or trying to keep track of everyone...great fun(he has a marvelous sense of direction. . .). I'd love to see your pictures when you get time to put them up. The area where LOTM was filmed is beautiful; and Rich's book is great! I remember going to the library and trying to figure out where the area was from the film credits (this was before we had a computer); an impossible task being as I'm from Northern California. I think one of my first "google" (at the time "web crawler" was what we used) was LOTM. Found this great site; and bought the book. The rest is history...
