Posted - November 14 2004 : 6:45:55 PM Once again fellas, Hello!!
Its that time of year again, when my wife starts asking me what I want for X-mas.
I would like a nice Triccorn hat, but I am unsure of what to look for in a good quality hat.
I would like a tricorn hat, incase I ever wanted to field as a militia.
I noticed at CD Jarnagin, they have a tricorn hat for $65.00
http://www.jarnaginco.com/FIcatframe.html
Then I looked at Jas Townsend and they wanted $35.00, for what appears to be the same hat.

I know that some sutlers might charge more for a product, because they can, and other sutlers will have a really cheap price, because there product is cheaply made.
SO I am asking the great knowledge of this forum,..........where can I get a decent tricorn hat for a decent price??

Posted - November 15 2004 : 01:47:57 AM I have looked at a number of these and have three, two by Clearwater and one by Dirty Billy, and the best by far is the one by Dirty Billy. His main business is Civil War, but he makes 17 Century to modern. And he knows the details that make a hat correct. He's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Back in October, at the Siege of Savannah, he made me a black cocked hat with white cockade and a liner with three fluer-de-lyse. I picked out the hat blank from his stock, and he did the rest on the site. He has a retail store in Gettysburg.
