... in polite 18th century social circles, that there is a certain Regiment in His Majesty's service who fight bravely and fiercely by day protecting the Wilderness of Pennsylvania in their dark forest-green uniforms, and then become quite the genteel, foppish "Tea-drinkers" (hah!) by night in their brightly colored banyans, tasselled caps, and red Moroccan slippers.

In fact, the word is... that these gentlemen really blow away the competition! Now wouldn't this be a sight to see?

Aye, Herr Flags; I shall be at Bushy Run, and I do look forward to going into combat alongside of your brae cousin Malcolm. Let him know that I have been working with my lads too, a sergeant's work is never done. It does a hatman like me proud to serve alongside of the elite of His Majesty's Infantry. Huzzah to you, and First Sergeant MacWilliam!!!! 'Tis good to see you back where you belong.

Your Most Humble Servant,

Aye, tis good to be back, cuzzin Seamus....and how is GG and Kate and all the other Mohicanites which I have lost contact with?? And, Sjt. Munro, will ye be going to Bushy Run in a few weeks? Cuzzin Malcolm is planning on being there.....if I can roust him away from his lads (whom he has been drilling into the ground, getting ready for said battle with the Natives), he may even post a message or two....
Pax Aye......MANY FLAGS

I was beginning to worry about you, Cuzzin! Good to see you have made it back from the wilds........we must get together and share some tales about our adventures.

Banyans, spanyans!! I'll drink my port in breechclout and leggins and enjoy it as much as the next man. However, cousin Malcolm is telling me that port tastes best when wearing a kilt....and scotch is just mmmmmmmwhahhhhhh!! Anyway, good to be back.....twas a long trek.
Pax Aye!! Many FLAGS!!

I shall wait expectantly.

Well, now.............it would seem that 'tea' might be a code word for 'amber liquid' which has been known to make appearances at certain times, and flow copiously through teeth and gums to rest deliciously inside and provide warmth to certain gullets. However, in this particular case, Bookworm is right on the button. Port, it is, m'dear, and good Port at that. Madeira has been known to grace my wee silver cup at times, but Port is the preferred libation here. Any port in a storm, or lots of port in a storm, you know. Used to wash down Stilton Cheese and thin crackers, as was done in many 18th century military Officers' quarters, and IS done in mine, Port has no equal.

Banyan wars are a spectacle to behold, for sure! The Augusta Regiment is among the top troops in this endeavour and holds the center of the line!

Unfortunately, there is no group photo image of this, but I shall make it a point to set one at a future event. I may be able to come up with an individual one for you, though.

Competition??? There's a competition??!!!! Perish the thought!

Until you added that last sentence, WW, I was going to quote Captain Jack Sparrow of POTC: "But why is the rum gone?" Except, of course, that it would be port instead of rum. But you've cleared that up . . .

Many Who???

Now you see? That's what happens when you go off into the wilderness on very long hunting treks. You miss out on certain unusual goings-on around the home fort.

As for who, well I think you know perhaps all too well what is truly in those tea cups...
Many Flags Posted - July 20 2004 : 1:14:27 PM
Ok, been out of the loops for months....is there anything I need to know?? And, who drinks tea wearing such clothing and lead another life??

Many Flags.....uhhh, yeh......Pax Aye!!
Wilderness Woman Posted - July 19 2004 : 2:56:03 PM
Indeed. That is what they say. Of course...... I have not seen evidence of this....er.... phenomenon... for myself... yet.

However, simply the imaginings of it... do curdle my blood........

[Cough] That is... I meant to say STIR! STIR my blood!
