That's one thing we all have in common, - we're all toast. Only question is the timing.

When we move up to WA, it will be to Belfair, about 12 mi. SW of Bremerton...and it's on the west side of the ridgeline, so when Mt. Ranier blows out (and it will, soon enough) we should be safe from all that boiling mud & mini-tsunami in Puget Sound. Of course, if Mt. Olympus ever wakes up, we're toast!

Trees?? .. For trees per square mile, Maine is actually number one in the country, and New Hampshire is number two. About two years ago on a hike, I had the misfortune to run into a couple from Cape Cod - who clearly thought we had far too many trees. (We don't, - just far too many Mass. transplants)

Obi, I know and love WA state very well. My mom grew up north of Bellingham--not too far from the Canadian border. I have many, many friends and relatives out there. I hope you enjoy it. They have nice temperatures along the coast, as I'm sure you know, but too many cloudy days for my taste. Where in WA will you be relocating to?

I grew up outside Chicago and when we traveled to WA I used to think it was sooo green and had so many trees. Then, I moved--first to CT, then to PA. Now I have a much better understanding of what "a lot of trees" means and what "green" truly is. But, there is nothing like the Pacific coast, is there?

Yes, I know. And that's my point. Not all of California has that nice, perfectly warm weather all of the time.

Better starting growing the webs between your toes, Obi. You're gonna need 'em! I still have the vestigial remains of mine, even though I've been gone from there for 30 years.

Oh, and make sure the pontoons for your vehicle fit really well. You don't want them falling off while you are in the middle of a Pacific Northwest Drizzle.

Wing, after my wife retires (in another 5-6 years) we will be moving to Washington, aka the Pacific Northwet. No, that's not a misspelling...

WW, you must remember that 2/3 of Cali. is covered with mountains!

I scored a 6 too! I thought that being French I would do better. The need to ask some questions about reading a moccasin print, or getting rid of horses, or not burying the dead or something.
Wilderness Woman Posted - June 05 2008 : 6:02:12 PM
Alas, I only got 5 correct.

I'll betcha the Donner Party didn't think California weather was so great!

6 seems to be the magic number--that's what I got, too.

I don't agree with the answer where the guy cut his leg, though, because it makes the assumption that the bleeding stops for the night. If your friend cuts his femoral artery that bleeding won't stop until his heart stops. There's no way for you to know where the bleeding is coming from. I still say get help as soon as possible.

Obi, I think this quiz is making the assumption that you travel somewhere for your trip, you don't just stay in your local area. So your local weather isn't really relevant. You're just trying to remind us all of the great weather you have in CA. But then again, you have to live in CA--not something I'd like to do!

6 points here, too! Even though I got the ice fishing question right, so what, I hate fishing anyhow! Besides, it hardly ever gets below 25 degrees here, even on the worst of nights. The lowest I ever remember is a measly 19 degrees! So...no frozen lakes here!

Hey, 6 points! I'll "live through more than half of the survival situations {I} may find {my}self in." Let's just hope I always encounter my survivable half of wilderness dangers.
