Starting August 9th I'll be starting my Sophmore year in highschool. I'm really excited to see how my new classes are and to see my friends again, but just knowing homework and the assignments will be thrown at me will be a drag.

Here's my classes for this year...
1st period is Algebra 1 (Because I had two years of Pre-Algebra thanks to conservative teachers)
2nd period is World History (Finally, a subject I'll be good at)
3rd period is English 2
4th period is Earth And Space Science Honors (My teacher signed me up for it...I didn't really ask for it as Science is not my best of subjects)
5th period is Spanish 2
and finally...
6th period is Journalism 1 (The journalism class is the students who write the school newspaper, so I'm looking forward to this class the most.)

I look forward to the fact school is starting on August 9th and the fact that from August 12th through the 16th I'll be in Pennsylvania visiting my aunt, as well as having a get together with a few well known Alamo Historians. So it should be a great time.

Also, an advantage to living at the Beach here in Florida is... the variety of ladies, so there will be alot of them around at school as well.I guess I'll keep you Mohicanites updated on how my Sophmore year progresses. See yall around.

~Wade

From our local newspaper...

The Senators when Beaches Run

I am the fourth guy from the left, Wade Dillon. This was taken after the run.

Hi,

girls can be a tough one... 'a breed apart and make no sense'.
I think you're very brave to ask that girl out though! If you manage to be brave like that in future and the whole 'just want to be friends thing' hasn't put you off being honest about your feelings then I know you'll reap the rewards. Girls will respect you for being forthcoming and honest and as Kay says there will be someone out there for you!

Plato's idea was that in ancient times we angered the Gods and they split us straight down the middle with a lightening bolt and scattered our remains to the ends of the earth. It's for that reason that we now search constantly for our other half... to make a whole. So if you believe that then you will believe that it will take some time to find the right gal.

Take care,

Jacy :)

lol Thanks Kay.

Girls...the mystery of life.

Wade,
Alot of girls say the same things about guys.
I know that you have probably heard this before, but the girl that is right for you is out there. Just have patience, and you will find her. She might be right under your nose and you keep overlooking her.

Good luck on your cross country meet!!!

Love,
Kay

Girls...the mystery of life.

Yep, I asked a girl out, but all I got was "I just want to be friends." Now, I understand that...but not when I felt signs that she liked me too. Anyway, There was another girl I really liked, who I asked out last year but already had a boyfriend, that when I say hi to her...she's always hanging around her boyfriend. It's akward when she kisses him...so I just turn my head. Is it because I'm jealous? I don't know...just the girls I really like seem to slip away.

Anyway, Journalism is going great. I'll have an art piece in the next newspaper issue and will write and draw for it by the end of the semester.

Also, I was recently in the local newspaper. It was titled "At the carwash" and there was a photo of the cross country team, with me cleaning the tire, washing cars to raise money for the team. My 2nd time being in the newspaper, my first being at school, as it was an article about our class painting toys for sick kids. My first cross country meet will be this Tuesday so wish my luck!

But school is going nice. I was just told I'll have a few quotes in the September issue of the Alamo Journal. So things are going great.

I've also been asked to design the Homecoming t-shirt. If I win, I'll get a $25 gift certificate and a free t-shirt...so I guess I'll do it. Even my English teacher asked me to design her a logo...so i guess I'm stacked with art requests.

Anyway, I thought I'd keep yall updated on my Sophmore year.

~Wade

Hi Wade,

cos blimey you've been busy! Makes for an interesting read- so the journalism should come easy!

Keep us posted and good luck with everything, I loved history at school it was my second best subject next to German/French. It was American history - the Wild West I really enjoyed studying, never was much good with dates though!

Ah well - if you have trouble with any homework - let us know! Am at uni at the moment - I work for Liverpool JMU (the city that's the home of the beatles) - and they pay for my study cos I work for them so I won't be in debt.

Anyway enough about me - good to hear you're enjoying yourself!

Jacy ;0)

Wade,
I am really glad that you are sharing your sophomore year with us!!!
Good luck with the dark haired girl. Sounds like she thinks that you are really cute.
i really liked what you said about when high school ends, it comes down to friends and grades. That is so true, so keep up your grades and keep your true friends. They will stick by you through thick and thin. That means alot when you really need a friend!!!

Sohpmore Year: Day...I forgot.

The dark-haired girl I was talking to yall about...we're friends. Today she looked at my student i.d. and said I was as cute as a baby. Now, I've never heard that before, but I took it as a compliment.I'm getting signs that she may like me, but who knows. She is nice, cute, and I guess I like her as well.

Well, we spoke again today. Ofcourse we will as she does sit at my table. She looked at my student i.d. and said I looked as cute as a baby Now, I've never been told that before, but I'll take it as a compliment. Home coming dance is in October I believe...so I'll keep yall updated.

Well, School went nice today. There's these group of guys I knew last year that I used to hang out with that I'm trying to avoid now, because their all basically a**holes, pardon my french as they deserve that title. I'm avoiding them because all they do is humiliate others and dare each other to do some cruel act. I'm not like that. I hang out with all types of groups of people. Not just one minority of people who think their above the rest, because when highschool's about to end...it comes down to friends and grades and that's what I'll remember the most.

My subjects so far are doing good. I have alot of homework and I'm already tired of it. Otherwise, school's going fine.

Some of my artwork may be making our school newspaper. So, I spoke with one of the editor's and she asked if I'd like to draw for the newspaper and I said sure. But I do want to write for it as well.

On Saturday, I ran 5 miles. Today, I ran 4 and our first meet is September 4th I believe. I'll be ready. I plan to where my father's original Organ Waffle shoes to the meet. They are basically new and fit me perfectly.

I'll keep yall updated.

Sophmore Year: Day 2

School went great today, except for a few guys from last year that I'd like to break a flintlock over their heads. But I'm not worried about them.

Class went great.A few of them were stretched out and boring, but I sat through it all.

Teachers are cool. I have nothing to worry about with them.

In Journalism class, there's this cute dark haired girl, whose eyes met mine a few times. We've talked to each other a few times, but I can't tell anything yet.

Overall, the day went great, but we'll be really going into things in the next couple of days. I already have a homework assignment.

After school, I ran about 4 miles with my Cross Country Team. But that sun was beating down on me and it was not one of my favorite runs. Tommorow, I run 6 miles.

I got home about an hour or so ago so again...I am tired. As the days get more interesting, I'll keep yall updated on how school goes.

Thanks Wilderness Woman. I will enjoy this year. Hopefully, I'll have better, encouraging assignments than very boring ones.

My oh my! Aren't the hormones raging! Keep the mind on the studies, young-un!

Cross country, eh? My son ran during his senior year only. Because he came into it late in his high school career and didn't get much training, he didn't do very well, but that's OK. He gave it a good try, he got good excercise and we enjoyed going to the meets to cheer him on. That was only 6 years ago, btw. He's nearly 23 now.

Enjoy!

My first day of Sophmore year was great! Except for a taco nearly hitting my shoulder, I'm fine.

Journalism 1 is actually a class teaching you the essentials before writing for the school newspaper, but the teacher told me I should be writing for it at about the end of the first quarter.

All the classes are cool. The teachers seem nice. And there's alot of nice looking ladies in each one.I spoke with a few of them in class today.

It was cool to see all my friends again. Some of them were even in my classes, so this should be a good year. Both educational and fun. I'll give yall a more detailed update tommorow for day 2 of my Sophmore year as I just got back from Cross Country training about an hour or so ago and am tired.

Thanks SgtMunro! I sent you a pm.

But today, after my father gets home from work, me and my brother will go with him to the nearest K-Mart or Walmart and pick up the essenctial school supplies like pencils, pens, paper, folder, etc. But yes, I'm really looking forward to the Journalism class. It could help me on the road of becoming a writer as I enjoy writing. Too bad the school doesn't have creative writing this year, because I would've been one of the first to sign up! Spanish 2 will ofcourse help as I am writing a novel on the Alamo and spanish was spoken on both sides of the fort. And World History should be interesting. I'm actually more into American History, but I recon it's better than the boring American government class I had last year (Due to a boring teacher.) Overall, I think this year will go well.
SgtMunro Posted - July 31 2004 : 3:15:36 PM
You're very welcome, lad. I am just pleased to know a young man, like yourself, who has a deep love of history. You are destined for great things, all that is required of you is to work hard, so that when your moment comes, you will be ready. If you would, PM me, I have some commemorative items from my reenacting unit that I would like to send to you. (Since I know you would appreciate such things)

I'm sitting here trying to think of how well I'd have done concetrating on my studies with a Florida beach full of ladies at hand ...

Good luck, Wade. I know that you will excell in all of your studies. As I have said before, you are truly an amazing young man.

Many Flags, hello, nice to meet you. I understand Jackson is about an hour or so away from Scranton. I've never really been in Pennsylvania. Also, Jacksonville, Florida was named after Andrew Jackson and he was one character David Crockett did not care for.

Gadget Girl, i'll try and remember the slogan I'm going to have to work hard anyway seeing I want to make good grades and stay on the cross country team.Last year, school started for my on the 7th.

Hey Bookworm, I appreciate the Alamo article you sent me. I'm part of a few messageboards, this one and two Alamo messageboards, including mine, and they're asking me to come by and meet them as well, but the time and money sometimes...just isn't there. But I'll be spending time with a few well known Alamo Historians and enthusiasts and will try and post photos when I come back.

I'm looking forward to the school year. I just got my well needed new bookbag tonight and will get alot of school supplies tommorow. After that, me and my father will be planning what we'll be packing for the trip. One of them my coonskin cap some of you saw in the photos of me and my house I posted recently.

Good luck with everything, Wade! History, literature, Spanish -- sounds like excellent preparation for a career as an Alamo historian. I'm sorry to hear that your time in Pennsylvania is pretty well spoken for, but if things should change and you find yourself anywhere near Carlisle, a mini-Gathering is definitely in order. Have a great trip!

Wade, Good Luck with school! My sophomore year was one of my favorites. I got some good advice from my English teacher that year (also my debate team coach)..."Hard work makes everything easier". It's TRUE, it's TRUE! Work hard, and a lot of things just fall in place! This slogan has served me well in life as well as school!

WW, the kids start Aug. 9th here too, but the legislature just apssed a bill to delay school starts until later in the month and removing some of the teacher workdays. Last year it was Aug. 5th!!!! Of course, my daughter - being a senior this year - is most distressed that the ruling doesn't take effect until next year!!!

Wade......Many Flags here... (cousin to Malcolm).....I was wondering where Jackson is...I'm familiar with most of the deep woods of Penns Colony, but not heard of Jackson.....course, if it's named for Old Hickory, that's in the future somewhat, although I hear as a lad he spit on a British officer during the American War of Rebellion......Pax Aye! Many Flags of the Allemaengel
