Well,its a wrap! Director Robert Matzen has just finished filming,with Dr.Stephen Brumwell(author of RedCoats)and Dr.Paul Kopperman(Braddock on the Monongahela)appearing on Saturday Nov.2,2002 at the F&I Seminar at Jumonville,And the prints of Robert Griffing & John Buxton the next day.Scheduled release is still May 2003.Check www.paladincom.com for updates.EM

One of his works, which you may most easily recognize was "The Rough Riders". Some of his earlier stuff includes "The Wind And The Lion", another great pre-WW1 film about the Morrocan Crisis, with a GREAT deal of Artistic License. All in all, though, an enjoyable movie.

This sounds good.What has this Milius done in the way of filmwork?I've also read somewhere on the site that Robert Redford will be working on an F&I film.Anybody know anything about this?EM

To have John Milius involved would definately give such an endevor the possibility of becoming another classic. At least you know he would get the guns/uniforms/accoutrments right.

Well, if anyone has a couple hundred million laying around that they don't know what to do with, I read several years ago that John Milius wanted to do "The Frontiersmen". Maybe if someone bankrolled that, he would also do "Wilderness Empire" and "The Conquerors". (OK, now I've done it. I'm probably not going to be able to sleep, thinking of the what it would be like to have Milius film Eckert....)

Rich and his men are ideal for either role. Those guys did their research, and it shows every time the lads take to the field.

Certainly,did not Col.Bouquet employ rangers/frontiersmen when he left Carlisle to lift the siege at Ft.Pitt.Rich Baker & his Virginians are interested in serving in that capacity as well.EM

I think for the third installment, we should see if Steve Patracity and his boys from RR could get a part in the movie. I think Bobby Metz would make an excellent Robert Rogers.

If I recall correctly,you were standing beside me at the premiere when I asked him about doing a sequel.So the credit belongs to us both (or you're equally to blame,one of the two )The filming went well yesterday at Ligonier,when I, portraying Col.Henri Bouquet of the 60th got to throw Major Grant out the 77th out of my office for having the audacity to want my authorization for an attack on Ft.Duquesne .Now he will have the rest of the mannequins against me,and I'll have to really watch my back EM

Did I mention that Director Robert Matzen has received 5 awards for his production of"When the Forest Ran Red:Washington,Braddock and a Doomed Army?"Again,the sequel"George Washington's First War:The Battle For Ft.Duquesne"will be better.Better how Glad you asked.You will see better outdoor footage,Computer-Generated Graphics of the battle plus the creme de la creme of reenactors etc.Plus the fact that yours truly has a speaking part whereas Sgt.Malcolm MacWilliam does notThat is why you should see this movie.Check out updates at:www.paladincom.com EM

Doc Shaffer's should be fun this year, but it will be bittersweet. I'm sure gonna miss Lt. Poulharie and Madame Amy, I hope they have an easy PCS to Washington.

You should have turned out for the May 4th shoot.It was a blast.All is not lost however,we will be filming out at Doc Shaffer's in the last week of October.You're more than welcome to participate.Then it's a wrap.(due to be released in May 2003).Then comes planning for the Third of the Trilogy Pontiac's Uprising

I hope that RM will look into my idea of Gordon's Defeat and the destruction of Ft. Vernango. I think it would some dark humor, particularlly the "Sir, the enemy requests a parley" scene we discussed.

Hey Lieutenant, I only hope that I can keep my own "Ham Factor" from going into overdrive in the next movie. As RM said "It will be a trivia question in the future, how many times can you spot the two Ed's".

Most do not know what obstacles that we've had to overcome to get where we are with this film.After dealing with the bureaucrats in the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum C mmission(who really don't like history anyway)in order to be able to film some items in the Ft.Pitt Museum(which we won btw  )we can now conclude filming and concentrate on promotion.With the 250th anniversary of the French & Indian War coming up in 2004,we hope to start on the documentary concening The Battle of Bushy Run sometime in 2003.For updates on this film check out:www.paladincom.com EM
